You Guys should have a Episode of Bytejacker Devoted to linux games. Very few people know they make free games for linux so you should make an Episode all about it.

Honestly, I just really appreciate that Bytejacker mentions Linux. I get tired of different sources not bothering (or avoiding) to drop the L word.

Although I'm strictly a Linux user, I'm against the idea of an all Linux episode. It would be a little hypocritical and would alienate regular viewers who don't use this awesome OS.

I think indie game developers tend to cater to Linux. And that is a good thing, because indie is where most of game innovation is happening these days. Hopefully, this makes for a brighter future for Linux gaming.

Maybe not necessarily an episode that's ALL Linux, but an episode where every game is open source and available for Linux. Most of the best open source and free games out there are cross platform, such as OpenArena, Blob Wars: Metal Blob Solid, and The Mana World, just to name a few in completely different genres.

We try to cover as much stuff as we can for all platforms - the issue with stuff that's JUST linux is we don't have a linux box setup to capture video from. Something to look into for the future, though.

Also: anytime you think "Man, I totally wish Bytejacker would cover (GAME)..." just throw it in the suggestion box on the site, or email games@bytejacker.com - we love to hear about what you're playing!

I've never heard of Blob Wars, but I dig OpenArena. I wasn't so into The Mana World - reminded me of Graal in a lot of not-so-great ways.

Just some examples that I've played. I really like Blob Wars though. It's a side-scrolling shoot everything that moves and doesn't look like you, find everything that does look like you, puzzle solving, blood everywhere type of game that made more than 9 hours of my life completely disappear one day.

Ubuntu might be part of the solution - the OS part, but does Ubuntu support video capture? That is a key part of what Anthony is talking about and needed for his type of show.

Yes, to answer the question, it indeed does. RecordMyDesktop (http://recordmydesktop.sourceforge.net/about.php) does just such a thing, and a rather good job, even keeping only a single window or program in frame. It has a GTK frontend for Gnome and a QT frontend for KDE. I use it quite often to make instructional videos or to just make my wife think I'm controlling my computer with my mind by playing a recording back in fullscreen.

Shawn of LinuxJournal.com has a video about this topic. He is using Ubuntu in the video and he mentions three screen capture packages.

This site is what I follow for mostly indie games that are sure to work with Linux. It ends up being, of course, that there are usually versions for Mac and Windows as well--rarely is there a Linux only game.
