Star Wars: The Clone Wars: Vol. 1: A Galaxy Divided
Star Wars: The Clone Wars: Vol. 2: Clone Commandos

I'm on episode 4 of vol 2, and I have to say, it's getting really damn good. (There's a scene with Mace Windu and a bridge that is kick ass)

They are on Netflix (not watch now yet) and are worth a visit. It's a shame they didn't have these made before the movies - at least the third one - so order 66 would have been felt a bit more like a deeper betrayal.

The camera work and action scenes are well done and I like how they've dealt with the clone troopers trying to have a sense of individuality.

This is a great addition to the various media forms they have used to tell Star Wars stories and I'm looking forward to future episodes.

(The first couple episodes are a bit heavy handed with retarded droids but even the droids get worked on with more advanced models and abilities - just hang in there)

I've only seen a few episodes, and I enjoyed what I saw. One episode with Yoda and 3 clone troopers against a whole army was pretty good. Unfortuately I don't really have a way to see them. Don't have a cable station that airs them, don't have netflix, don't really feel they're worth an outright purchase, and haven't been able to find them through, errr, other channels. Mind you I haven't looked around recently. Definitely a good show though.

I completely agree. The first episodes are not that great but it definitely gets better. I have yet to watch any episodes from the second season, but the season 2 trailer look promising.

All episodes are available on strwars.com if you're in the US or at http://www.surfthechannel.com/show/72531.html

I love the show. At first I wasn't sure about the anima part of it - then it turned out to be great

ok the two ive posted...

Star Wars: The Clone Wars: Vol. 1: A Galaxy Divided
Star Wars: The Clone Wars: Vol. 2: Clone Commandos

...are separate than the "Season 1" and "Season 2" discs i also see on netflix (which i ordered too)

I'm confused - are they stand lone or are they the same and labelled different?

Bumping this up again. Three episodes into disc 2, Season 2. (From Netflix) Really good. The first disc was slow getting going, but there have been a couple episodes where it's non-stop action. The direction in some have been amazing and I even jumped once. It's a really fun pace . . . like cliff notes for Star Wars. The character models are improving by leaps and bounds. I'll attach a snapshot.

I love the different environments they are introducing and there is a particular episode that is basically a fan-tribute to the movie Aliens.

I'm not sure if the guys have checked these out at all . . . but I know Alex has mentioned his love of all that is Star Wars and I believe Jeff is a big fan too. A few of the episodes might catch Dan's appreciative director's eye. (Hmmmm, "The Director's Eye" . . . sounds like an artifact Dan would go after)

I don't know why, but making a cooking analogy comes to mind - it's like the episodes are a flavorful reduction, boiling out the majority to leave only the great Star Wars flavor we love.

*shrug*

Back to watching . . .

I've been watching Clone Wars since the beginning and (aside from the occasional Jar jar centric episode) I love it. It's just a shame that they had to kick it off with that abysmal movie. At least they haven't brought Jabba's son back.

They did an episode dedicated to Akira Kurosawa.

Yup. The show completely won me over when I saw that episode. Seen the 'submarine' episode yet?

Are you talking about that "special" ship? It resembled one of the original design ideas for the Falcon. If that's the case, I actually saw it more like a Star Trek episode . . . some of the music even reminded me of a Klingon rift. That was a fun one too . . . so far there's only been one episode I was "meh" over and that was the Zilla one . . . BUT if they were to incorporate the scales of that thing to becoming the reflectors on the death star that focus the beams, that episode wouldn't be so silly any more.

There's an episode in season 2 where there is a character they treat like Charles Bronson's in Once Upon a Time in the West . . . they even have some of the music sound like his haunting harmonica . . . spans a couple episodes . . .

. . . awesome.

Season 4 has undoubtedly been the best of them all. I particularly liked the General Krell arc (that ending was brutal) and the current arc with Cad Bane has been exceptionally good so far.

Having just seen Episode 1 again (yes in 3D, this is a cry for help), I have to say that this show may be single handedly saving the core star wars universe for me. I'm enjoying SWTOR but all the books I've read recently have been crap and none of the current comics are hooking me.

I would watch the show with a lot more interest if it was just all Clones all the time. You wouldn't think that a cast of dudes who all look alike would be boring, somehow you would be wrong. They do these real subtle thing to give them depth and development. They aren't afraid to kill a bunch of them. Its great.

I've been real suprised how brutal the show can be. One episode had a shark man that bites people to death, and they show it, and its horrific. Love the show.

The Clone Wars proves that Lucasfilms hasn't forgotten about the adult Star Wars fans (kind of odd for an animated show) and I absolutely agree that the clone-centric episodes are the strongest (not to mention the fact that the clones are voiced by Dee Bradley Baker). I recently rewatched The Deserter from season 2 and I'm still impressed that they were willing to get into such serious and deep topics. The only downside is that it gets you to like the clones which, in light of Order 66, is a little uncomfortable. Although, I do appreciate that they're willing to elicit those kinds of conflicting emotions.
