Hey guys, I dunno if there is a thread that you post your own projects, if there is I'm sorry for creating a new thread. But anyways...
About 2 years ago some friends and I were assigned a Penny Wars commercial for our high schools morning news show. We decided to make an all out war video. Sadly it never aired, and it almost got us kicked out of our TV-Productions class. The teacher deleted the project and took the tape, but we just recently found the tape and re-edited it. Here it is, let me know what you think.

PS. The bloopers and outtakes aren't that funny, so don't bother watching them unless you absolutely want to.

Hey guys, I dunno if there is a thread that you post your own projects, if there is I'm sorry for creating a new thread. But anyways...
Actually, there's not such a thread because posting your own videos is actually against forum rules of conduct.
Nevertheless, as this is a show about making short films... It could be allowed for the sake of interest.
I also think it would be cool for people to post videos that use Filmriot techniques.
I'll make it sticky to make the thread official.
Let me toss up some guidelines.
1. Video should be your own work. This is not at thread for viral videos. Do not post stuff that you don't hold a license to use.
2. No Podcasts.
3. Don't promote personal blogs, websites, companies or web-services that are normally considered spam.
4. Follow all forum rules for things including, but not limited to, spam, trolling and decent behavior.
5. Only bring awesome.

Hello Guys/Gals,

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9ykbab9D-UU
I'm a medical student who picked up animation as a spare time hobby. I recently started a video podcast for medical illustration where I and others explain and illustrate medical concepts in 3d (using Lightwave3D)
Long story short: after watching FilmRiot enough times, I decided to make a Halloween spoof of my own, about a movie trailer titled, "Shark-o-Foot".
I used the "Vertigo Effect" as described in one of your previous shows, for the intro shot (in a world...). I believe my zoom factor changed from about 26X down to 3.2X. It was pretty extreme, but it gave the perspective of "warping" into the begining scene.
So far the feedback has been pretty good. Considering all of our content otherwise is serious, I was a little worried how a weird spoof of an actual disease "Charcot Foot" would be received. See for yourself: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charcot_arthropathy
Anyways, I love the show and I'm glad to have seen a few techniques which believe it or not, translated very well to the 3D world.
Thanks, you guys RULE!

Hello, this is my first post here. Love the Film Riot, been following it since day one. I love the work Ryan and co. are doing and I hope they keep making such awesome stuff.
To get down to business. I made this film with two friends. One is in the movie while the other one composed it.
It was made in May 2009, was sent to a festival in my country a month later. No rewards, though.
Currently, I'm making a 40-minute project, a thriller, of sorts. Later, I'll make another short.
Either way, here's the link.

Great job man. I really enjoyed this, and the artistic route you took in your coverage.
My only critique is that it is a bit longer than it needs to be. If you could cut around 2 minutes off of it, I think your audience wouldn't be able to take their eyes off of it.
Overall great job though!

Would love some comments by anyone of what you think of the film, good and bad. If you have seen La Jette, you may see some similarities in style. Chris Markers short film and his use of photos to represent memory were a huge influence.
I have to say that I absolutely love Film Riot. Once I came across it I went back and started watching from the first episode. Great info and even better delivery of that info, you guys are hilarious and yet also totally informative. Awesome!

This is a pretty awesome thread. I'm lovin' all of your guys' films.
First time post on Revision3, just became a fan of FilmRiot about a month ago and I immediately fell in love.
Anyway, I entered a one-minute film fest in October and ended up winning first place. Here's the film:

The whole idea of the contest was to test the filmmakers' skills without the need of a high budget, or an expensive camera... Mine was made on a 7 megapixel dslr, using the video function.
The masking looks crappy at points, but overall I'm happy with how it came out.
Enjoy. :)

Hey Ryan, thanks for the great comments. I just might launch up my edit and see what I can do to bring that runtime down just a bit more. I guess it is in my nature to have very slow and deliberate pacing in the hopes that it makes the exciting stuff at the end all the more intense. I am pretty sure that in this case though it could do with even a bit more trimming. I also wanted to say congrats on getting engaged and I wish the best of luck to you both!
In other fun news (and in keeping with the theme of this thread), I made another short film recently to test out some after effects compositing. I would love to hear people's thoughts. It is called "Kaboom":

Hey Film Riot fans.
Sorry I haven't been on the forums in a while (why, I shall explain in a minute), I've been very busy with my media course, anyway I'm still a big fan of the show just haven't had time to comment on it.
One of the reasons is because of my first real film project; to create a short scene designed to build tension.
I wrote the scene, directed in it and acted (not very well) in it.
Anyway I thought I would post it here to see what you guys thought and get feedback for later projects.
I'm pretty proud of it, I do think I over used the digital zoom but as I was not behind the camera it was the only way to get the shots I wanted in post-production.
There is actually one effect from Film Riot in the film, see if you can find it.
Here's the link and I hope you enjoy it:

Haven't been around these forums in a while. Thought I would pop by and just quickly update everybody with what I've been up to.
The biggest project I've just finished is a short documentary for college on social networking. I didn't direct it, I just did camera, presenting, editing, lighting and a bit of sound. Overall I'm relativity happy with it, although I would have made a couple of decisions differently had I been in charge. You can see it here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2ZkYbNoqHxI).
My friend directed his own, which I think is really good (and much longer than mine). It's in two parts; here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=krZEdKor9Qs) and here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dd9L1RTfYSg).
I've also been doing lots of little projects with my class at college, two of which are up here (http://www.youtube.com/user/ndmediahouse).
Finally I've just uploaded my first film-making production blog thing. I'm really not sure about this so if have suggestions or criticisms please posts them, I won't bite.

This is a movie I made in my senior year of high school in early 2002. I won a few prizes with it, including a local film festival. It was a huge learning experience. There are definitely some places where the editing could be tighter, but I think it still stands up okay. I hope to be able to scrape some money together to make more movies soon. I hope you enjoy it.

this is the first scene of something we *just* finished shooting a few days ago. we haven't even really begun editing it yet, were still screwing around with how we think the edits should be and will probably start in about a week or two. the shoot was a grueling 56 hour marathon, so we're going to come back to it after this coming weekend sometime and start on an edit after the crew gets some rest. and some food. and makes a bit of money with dayjobs (you end up blowing through cash fast on these things!) so hopefully after then we can start on audio as well as scoring this thing.
oh, and ignore the joke title card. it was that or "title goes here?".
it's totally inspring to see so many Rev3 viewers getting up and taking what they learn in Film Riot and actually putting that to tape.

wI'm not really proud of the editing, but I've made a few short sketches recently.
I tried to do them in about 2-3 hours and that's coming up with the idea to adding the final touches, then uploading them to YouTube, so they're not completely perfect. But still, good practice I guess.

Amen to that, well said!

Hi,
we made this short trailer as a "spoof" of the recently released SHAME movie.
We wanted to do a version where the lead character has a very different type of addiction.
The Director watches Film Riot on a regular basis and as well as being a big fan, has taken a lot of advice on board.
