Ok, we have had tons of food threads here. This one I don't remember touching on before... Breakfast!

Here's the scenario:

You are on Death Row, you are gonna be executed. Phone rings at 11:59 pm. It's the governor. Gives you an 6 hour stay of execution. You last meal now has to be breakfast. All the lunch and dinner places are closed.

What do you order?

What is your ULTIMATE breakfast?

*Eggs (over easy)

Very close to mine.

3 eggs over easy.

4 pieces Rye toast. with real butter.

Some bacon, for flavor, but more a sausage guy. (no gay jokes! ;) ) want at least 8 links.

Not sure what scapple is, but I want those eggs on top of a heap of corned beef hash.

For breaksert, I want 2 belgian waffles with REAL maple syrup. Whipped cream and strawberries on the side.

beverage: Hazelnut coffee. And a giant "hangover sized" ice water. I want those prison bastards to clean up huge amounts of urine when my bladder releases on the gourney. lol

(yes, I was gonna say "steak and eggs" but in this scenario, steak is dinner, not breakfast, so there.)

Scrapple is pretty local to the mid-atlantic. It may sound nasty if you never tired it, but it's delicious.

*Sausage is present in the gravy I mentioned, so that was my way of cheating and getting bacon and sausage. :) *

that's cheating! But then again, I wanted sausage and bacon. And hell, toss a slab of ham under that corned beef hash. Pig. It's for breakfast.

scrapple sounds like home-made spam. Pass.

Holy shit, I forgot the home fries, I would killed myself before they got to kill me without a huge side of homefries. Sprinkled with tabasco and salt. Mmmm.

Scrapple and spam are only similar in the sense that they're both square, and start with an 's'. They taste NOTHING a like. I hate spam on my plate as much as I do in my inbox. :P

Breakfast is my final meal, and I want ...

Fruit salad - with segmented oranges, pineapple, granny smith apple, strawberries, maybe some stewed/canned pears, raisins/craisins - server with vanilla yogurt (prefer organic), and some granola on top.

Eggs Benedict, with good quality canadian bacon and real hollandaise sauce. Eggs should be poached so that the white is firm, and the yolk is runny. If they can be freerange farm eggs - even better.

A side of hashbrowns, extra crispy (not burnt) would work as well.

I'll wash it down with a pitcher of OJ, and some sparkling mineral water (Pelegrino, Perrier, or similar).

Failing that, if the kitchen at the prison is closed - I'll just get a "Moon Over My Hammy" with fries (ranch on the side for dipping - yeah, odd Californian habit I picked up) at Denny's and a Coke to go.

Breakfast is my least favorite meal. Eggs, hashbrowns, bacon, and sausage --- None of these things go well with Tabasco sauce. I'm not sure if any breakfast food goes well with Tabasco, and if it doesn't go well with Tabasco, I don't like it. :D :D

Huevos Rancheros (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Huevos_rancheros). Awesome :)

That actually looks pretty good. :D

However, if I'm going to be eating some fine Mexican dining, I usually eat the meal with El Yucateco. I know, I know, I'm supposed to be a one-sauce man, but I like to eat a thick sauce every once in a while.

Even though its a habanero sauce, its not too hot.

Dude for me tabasco goes with EVERYTHING!

And you can definitely put tabasco on breakfast foods....

eggs, home fries, bacon, sausage, hash browns...all work with tabasco....in fact if you look at the label of the bottle, i think these foods are mentioned :D

The local diner/greasy spoon has a "breakfast mess" consisting of 4 scrambled eggs mixed with hash browns and topped with bits of bacon, sausage, onions, peppers, and hot peppers. Pour some hot sauce or salsa on it, and yum. Serve it with some buttered toast.

The last meal requests of the condemned. This dude had some breakfast incorporated into his huge last meal. Big Red soda? ick.

TEXAS LAST MEAL
RICHARD HINOJOSA
AUGUST 17, 2006

Last Meal: Hinojosa had a final meal request of a chef salad with ranch dressing, 12 pieces of fried chicken, five jalapeno nachos with chili cheese, four fried eggs over easy, French fries, onion rings, six Cokes, 6 Big Reds, and ketchup.

Indian Curry! Mmm. Any kind. So good. Can someone answer this question though: Do prisons actually grant "last meal" requests?

Yep, usually the total cost can't be over like $15 or so. If no last meal request is asked for then the prisoner will receive the standard prison meal.

Interesting. Eggs are cheap. Steak and eggs, not so much, if you wanna good steak.

And Curry is a breakfast, Klitz? Had it for "brunch" so might count. Hmmm.

$15? Really? That's a bit of a bummer, seeing as it will be your last meal. As for the question...

I don't know, I think I'd be a little nervous from the fact I was GOING TO DIE to be able to hold any food in my stomach. But my ideal breakfast would probably be scrambled eggs and ham in hollandaise sauce, served on top of homemade biscuit, and french toast with fresh cut strawberries and strawberry sauce. And of course, some bacon.

Many inmate requests annoy the hell out of me. Like suing because the peanut butter isn't crunchy, or the pillow isn't some high-priced, specialty therapeutic pillow. But I couldn't care less if a last meal request cost $500. Maybe it's because executions are so rare, or maybe it's because I'm against the death penalty to begin with. Who knows.

Anyway, I probably wouldn't have an appetite if I knew I was going to die for sure. Living in fear that dying may realistically happen soon (welcome to my last week) is enough to cause appetite loss.

But if I could eat any breakfast I wanted without worrying about gaining weight, I'd have a huge slab of bacon with a bunch of over-medium eggs, Belgian waffles, blueberry pancakes, hash browns, corned beef hash, and fruit, with a huge carafe of orange juice and a gallon of milk.

And now my stomach is grumbling. But for sweet potatoes. IDGI either.

It's all about the breakfast burrito. :D Sausage, bacon, eggs, potatoes, peppers all wrapped in a tortilla and served with salsa.
