Remember in Mars Attacks when the martians are gone and that one goofy lookin guy and natalie portman have to rebuild earth? Or england after 28 days later, when all the "zombies" were dead for real? Or maybe even when you were little and someone destroyed an entire lifesize lego for that you'd been working on for like days, and then you had to pick up all the pieces?

This is what I feel like right now, with all the fuc-kin people gone cause nobody can log on, all the memories of the old threads out and new favorite this and that lists will have to be posted, I feel like it's up to us now to rebuild what we once had.

As long as we still have the same people here, this will still be a great way for us to exchange information and opinions just like we did before, because hey, even i have to admit, these forums look pretty cool and they're fuc-king fast as shit.

so everyone that can see this, keep trying to sign on, request a new password and use that and stay online and help us rebuild this alien-tattered, zombie-infested, lego-mess of a forum and let's pick up the pieces one by one.

Like I said before, when everyone gets back here, I think it's going to be fuc-king epic. Right now, it's like that scene in Ninja Turtles: Secret of the Ooze where there's a shot of the water and you think they miiiight be dead from everything that revis...*ahem* the shredder did to them, but they're not dead. They're just waiting to come up, and when you see a single shell pop up, you almost cry because everything is going to be ok. So welcome back guys, and I can't wait to see all the turtles' shells pop out of the water so they can get out of it, and start kicking ass again. Let's do this sh-it. Forums do seem to be faster and more respnsive, but thats not saying much compared. Its gotta kick in again soon, Im sure most people will start popping up again around abot monday. I didnt even find the forums untill this morning. Anybody else seeing alot of post counts at 0?

see, you can see the threads when you search for a certain part of it...don't click on the links cause they don't work, but you can search very specifically and the threads show up if you scroll down. "Brian Gilmore" works. so does "comics" for anypeople that need sthat stuff. i gtg, but i'll post up a thread we should keep on the first page about the oldforums search.

i think these forums take a little warming up to, but i feel them growing on me like a fungus, or AIDS. The speed of posting leaves me wondering what to do with the hours I used to spend on here...very expedient. and now that fluxcapacitor has added all the old forums for us (HE IS GOD), we can, again, just send links. I'm still waitin on Satan, Abacus, the dawgs, slowmy, and a few others, though...

I posted a comment on that thread basically saying that I think Dan and Jon (perhaps Graham and Vijay) are the only ones that should be a mod on the Drome boards. It's their show, their fans, and their forum... and they are active on them unlike the other podcast hosts. Even though Dan doesn't post often I know he reads this shit and Jon is here being an asshole all the time. If not them, I encourage people to support Divadawg if she's up to it.

I use to be active on some other forums and it really does seem like the biggest problems they face are just little kid trolls challanging the moderators trying to get a rise out of them. I don't want to see any of that shit here. I love how self regulating this place has been. We rip on people when they need to be, we ignore the stupid shit that occasionaly gets posted, and everybody seems like they're all on the same page. I just don't like the idea of some Diggnation regulars holding authority over the Dromies, seeing as none of them besides kowgod are an active part of this community.

I agree with thundercat. Dan, Jon, Vijay, Graham..active participants in the creation of the 'cast. I would certainly agree that divadawg would make a good mod as well.

I don't want to see any "outsiders" moderating the Geekdrome forums.

Having mods might turn out to be a good thing, if they can do stuff like stickying topics and can restrain themselves from not freaking out over some of our more, er, colorful conversations.

This is something I'd be willing to do, since I've modded before (in much less hospitable environments, heh) if there's a need. I'm very stealthy and people can hardly tell when I am playing favorites with some and sabotaging those others. I'm also very good at making up rules on the spot.

In case none of that sounds appealing, I support all the names mentioned thus far tho. :)

If I could be told how to mod, I waste enough time on these forums to do it as well, kowgod r3v and I could do a stand-up job, b/c although I'm vehemently against any kind of censorship, if I had some kind of say in what gets censored, I could at least know that nobody's opinions are being repressed/alienated b/c I would want to make any major corrections completely public.

We really don't need to be moderated, we are a very self-sustaining community here, so modding here probably wouldn't be very much work.

I'm a little annoyed by this. I spent 4 years modding over at Johnromero.com (what a flame fest that was) and mods can really end up defining the conversation that goes on. Considering we were able to peacefully co-exist in the absence of a mod it's a little saddening to discover that we are now to be modded by someone outside the family.

Anyway, I put my 2 cents worth in at the other thread, although I really hope that it doesn't fall on deaf ears.

I'm here (although I posted on other threads before I saw this one) I'm still getting used to these new forums it's going to take some time to warm up to them but there are some good new feature so it should be good once my eyes adjust.
I agree with everyone about the whole mod thing, I used to brag to my friend that mods at superherohype that at geekdrome we don't have mods or sensors and everyone was able to get along just fine.
One thing to b!tch about, what the fu<k is up with this junior member bullshit!

In truth if you look at the previous iteration of the forums that I believe Fluxcapacitor now has resurected, you'll see that most people, myself included don't swear. I can count the number of times people got in real arguments on one hand. The number of times a mod would of been required to step in comes in on one finger, the guy was simply a troll and left with the membership against him.
What irks me is being told that we're going to be the mods BlTCHES. Even as a joke it's not cool in my books. Perhaps some self modding might be a good idea.

What exactly is the purpose of having a moderator here? We've got our beefs, recurring pseudo-sexist, pseudo-racist comments in which our want to be moderator Brain Gilmore has taken a part of...so what exactly are we moderating? Why do we need one? What are going to be the guidelines for moderating?

I think we all get along well and as mentioned if someone says something that another doesn't like, it's expressed and we all move on. We all know how to tread the fine line of what's appropriate to say and not and all know that generally there is no malice behind what is said (even with the pseudo-whatever is said).

Not that I'm against it per se, but I'm just curious.

the reason i want to be one at all is b/c I know the drome does not need moderating at all. At least not how we used to be. It will be a thankless, almost workless job. That is until Thundercat said there are trolls that come through, and if we don't seem to be taking care of him ourselves, then I can just then use a wand and start casting spells. The point is, if you read what i posted in that other thread, you know that we are definetely on the same page and that is the reason I think a person like you or me SHOULD be a mod. Cause that way nothing that would've flown in the old town gets cut out.
