Was there one up that I can't find or is everyone too busying playing it and don't want anything spoiled? If so just ignore this thread.
Anyways I'm LOVING this game and really can't wait for the TRS review. I tend to agree with Jeff on almost everything and if he likes it as much as I do, it will be his GOTY hands down. I don't want to oversell it because there has already been too much of that but the game is just great. It has some flaws but they are hardly noticeable and more of 'beauty marks' then 'blemishes'. Can't wait to hear them talk about it on the show.

But yah, it think every one is still basking in the glory that is uncharted 2. I just finished the single player. It's amazing!!! I'm not gonna get into details to avoid spoilers, but it's the best cinematic action experiences that I've had this year(movies and games included).
Also, I'm about to start the co-op mode. Anyone interested? My psn is tamtamg.

Extremely linear game, took no risks, but very well done. I would have ended things differently, though, and also would have given the player at least one choice to make at some point in the game.

It's a clear game of the year contender, people are free to disagree but their opinions are not based on empirical reality.

I disagree Dolson, I really don't mind the linear nature of the Uncharted Series at all, I don't need all my games to give choice as long as they make a great game. Some really great story telling can be done without having to create some sort of cause and effect scenarios.
If UC2 did have a 'choice' mechanism in the game it would have seemed trivial and disingenuous. I'm glad Naughty Dog stuck to their guns and didn't do something just because it is the 'new' thing to do in games.

You disagree with me about what? About the fact that if *I* were in charge, I would have ended the game differently? Impressive, since you don't even know what my ending would have been, nor the one choice I would have implemented in the game, yet you still managed to write it off as "trivial and disingenuous." I appreciate your unfounded doubts of my ideas that I have not even shared with anyone yet.
I didn't say anything bad about Uncharted 2. I think it is exceptionally well done. I finished the game on Monday, and the game came out Tuesday. If I thought it was a bad game, I wouldn't have finished it, let alone so quickly. Do I think it is GOTY? Don't know yet, I haven't played Modern Warfare 2, Borderlands, or several other games. Also, not enough time has passed yet - I don't want to make rash judgment calls just because the game is fresh in my mind. Do I think it is a contender? Yes, certainly. It was extremely polished. Is it the best PS3 exclusive? I think so far it probably is. I would easily recommend it to everyone with a PS3. It is better than the first Uncharted in every area, except maybe controls (it's been a while, but seemed pretty much the same).
I said the game was linear. It was. Basically it was on auto-pilot. I said they took no risks with the game. They didn't. Do I mind it? No, as I said, it was very well done. Call of Duty 4 was also very linear, but at the time I played it, it was an amazing experience (talking about the single-player campaign that a lot of people ignored).
You don't need to jump to defend Uncharted's honor like I just called it a dirty whore or something. I loved the first one, loved the second one, and can't wait for the third one. I just would have ended it differently. That is all.

Taking "no risks" is an odd complaint, I mean sure it would be nice but if we hold that up as a standard than everything fails, Grand Theft Auto, Gears of War, Halo, the entire MMO genre, most of the Final Fantasies (though I'd argue the Gambit system was a risk). Hell, Call of Duty 5 will probably be great, but by that standard it will be a derivative retreading of Cod 4 with added co-op.

I didn't say anything bad about Uncharted 2.
To be fair you did say it was extremely linear and took no risks. Those certainly aren't compliments, but I get that you didn't necessarily mean them as faults.
The game was a blast for me for most of the way through. What impressed me most was the amount of variety in both visuals and action. I actually really enjoyed the stealth portions of the game and I like how you have a bunch of opportunities to either stealth your way through or go in guns blazing. Loved the cinematic aspect of it all too. The use of flashbacks, storyline, acting, very epic.
There were a few of times when I ended up more frustrated with the game than I would've liked. Particularly with the enemies that can withstand a ton of bullets and can hit for heavy damage. Especially with the last fight because I don't think the controls are that great when it comes to running and gunning. Plus, no mid-fight checkpoint in that fight made things stressful since I didn't want to die and start back at the beginning.
Overall though, the game was outstanding. I'm even joying what little I've played of the multiplayer, though there is a bit of an adjustment compared to other online shooters. People are really making use of hanging off ledges. I passed someone who was hiding off a ledge, and they popped up and killed me. I played a lot of the co-op during the beta and really liked it, so I'll probably be playing that more often than competitive multiplayer.

Seriously, bro calm down. I'm not one of those crazy fanboys flaming people for not worshiping UC2. I just disagreed with you on the linear nature of the game and gave you my opinion based on your post, it wasn't hostile. I feel that implementing some sort of 'choice' would be disengenoius because the previous game and all of UC2 were and are linear . All of sudden adding 'choices' would not feel true to the franchise, just like it wouldn't in any other linear series (CALL OF DUTY 4).

Fair enough. You would rather Uncharted 2 be exactly how it is, because it is perfect and can't possibly be any better than it is. I would have preferred something be there that would have made the player feel less detached from it.
It was a spectacle - A VERY GOOD ONE - rather than an immersive experience. I was playing a game, but it felt like I was mostly watching a movie. To their credit, Naughty Dog blended the two expertly (in stark contrast to Metal Gear Solid 4, where it alternated lengthy cinema and shooter gameplay as two distinct modes). But, in my opinion, it just felt too passive, too much like watching a movie, due to the almost on-rails nature of the game. It was a ride, rather than a vehicle I had any control over. But yes, it was a VERY GOOD ride, and one that I didn't want to put down (but had to because family were over for Thanksgiving and such).
As for my horrible "choice" idea, I wasn't asking for Grand Theft Uncharted or Heavy Drake or something like that, where the player has an open world to explore with many missions, or makes almost every choice in the story, respectively. I agree that would probably ruin the game and make it something it's not. To tell you what my actual idea is would be to spoil the ending of the game, since it'd have been a rather rather minor change to what was already there, but would, in my own opinion, have added more emotional impact and been less cliche.
It's not like I'd want a major change to the core of the series, like say how Retro took the 2D Metroid franchise and made it into a first-person adventure game. We all know that would never work, anyhow. :p
Anyhow, it's nice to see so many people loving a PlayStation 3 exclusive for a change, open-minded or not.

Different strokes... You like to be immersed, I just want good games.
I hear you about some of the story, sometimes it does become too cliche but I can't really hate on it too much. The story aspect / cutscenes seems to take up a lot of time in the game (I didn't time) and eventually stuff is going to become cliche.

I think I know where you're talking about and there are other places I feel could have had a choice element in the game however choices in games generally feel artificial to me. Add to that for me these types of things pull me out of the experience rather then pull me in and I think I would be disappointed by that. But I don't know exactly what you would suggest so can't judge it. All I know is that I didn't feel detached from the game.

We can talk about it in our podcast, if Tayler ever finishes the game...
I'm glad you didn't feel detached. I guess I'm just spoiled by games that involve some kind of thought process on my part.

Just finished it last night and what a terrific game! Not much unlike that commercial, my gf watched most of it as it really is like playing a movie. Really like how it involves you in the major action sequences, which other games usually regulate to cut scenes. I do wish there were a few more puzzle sequences, and that you could be a little more stealthy in clearing sectors. It felt at time like the game forced you into shootouts. But these are very minor grievances in what was one of the most enjoyable gaming experiences I have had in a long while.
Just started the multilayer and like it a lot so far. Does anyone else find the melee overpowered though? Would have been neat if it could have incorporated the dodge ability with it or at least make frontal attacks weaker.

I'm really enjoying the multiplayer too, but I don't think they've got the balance quite right. I agree that the melee is a little too hard, and the shotgun seems to be a bit overpowered. And while I love the maps that are there at the moment, they really could use a handful more. But overall I agree with Dan's comment that it's reminiscent of Goldeneye (which is basically the highest possible multiplayer accolade).
Anyone wants to add me then my username is Ruiyo.

Seriously the Multiplayer is alot of fun. a bit mismatched.
But i've had alot of fun, seriously hanging on the edge of a building as an enemy runs down the alley. I just pause, He comes back down and i take him out.. so bad ass

So when I get my PS3, should this be my first game instead of God of War 3? I've played the first Uncharted on a friend's system, and I loved it.
On a side note, can anyone give me 5 full retail games (no PSN games for now) that I can set my sights on to be my first games to pick up. Keep in mind I won't be getting my PS3 until around March, so anything that will come out by then is fair game. Is UC2 the best game on the system now?

That really, really depends. If you have played God of War games before and loved them as much as or more than the first Uncharted, then I'd say God of War 3 will probably be the better choice at that time. It looks amazing, to me. Uncharted 2 was excellent as well, and has multiplayer online modes, which I don't think God of War 3 will. So if it's a question of longevity, there's that... Of course, I have hardly touched Uncharted 2's multiplayer, but I will do some co-op soon.

It really, really depends on your tastes, but here's a few I'd say to choose from:
- Heavy Rain (unsure the exact release date, but I hope it's before March. It was supposed to be out this year)
- God of War 3 (and God of War Collection if you haven't played the first two, or would like to revisit them with anti-aliased 720p graphics)
- Uncharted 2 (assuming you finished the first one - you didn't specify - otherwise, do both)
- Ratchet & Clank Future (probably best to start with Tools of Destruction, but A Crack in Time comes out next week, and there's also a $10-15 downloadable title that fits in between, worth the money if you dig the series)
- inFamous (lengthy, fun, good, open-world game. I think it's under-appreciated, personally)
- Demon's Souls (if you like really tough games. My copy arrived today, haven't played it yet - busy playing Borderlands. A lot of people seem to be playing it on my friends list, more than any other game, actually)
- Resistance: Fall of Man (I don't know exactly why, but I really loved the game. I loved the look, the enemies, the cutscenes, everything. Resistance 2 was slightly disappointing, and clocked in at about half the length of the first)
- Metal Gear Solid 4 (some people complained about it, but I loved it - even the long-ass cinematics. It made me into a Metal Gear fan, actually.)
- LittleBigPlanet (I couldn't stop smiling when I played through it. I never got into making my own levels, and I didn't play many of the million+ that others made, but the longevity of the game is immense, should you choose to experience the user-made content)
- Valkyria Chronicles (I never bought it, but the demo was much much better than I thought it would be. I did plan to pick it up, but haven't yet. I know I don't have the time, as it's a long game. If Sega ever patches in trophies, I may just cave in and get it. High praise from those who have played it, though)
There, you should be able to pick 5 from these that sound like they might be games you would enjoy. It's really hard to know what to recommend, as everyone is different.

Like Dolson said it really depends on taste, and all those games are PS3 exclusive too, I don't know if you have 360 but there are other multi-plat games you could check out with your PS3, here are couple more.
Modern Warfare 2 - This game needs no introduction.
Batman Arkham Asylum - I am Batman!
Final Fantasy 13 - It should be out around then!
Bioshock 1 and 2 - I don't know if 2 is any good but if it's like 1 then it'll be awesome. At the very least you should pick up 1.
MAG (PS3 exclusive) - Currently in the BETA, it's awesome if you like military FPS and wish there was more squad cooperation in them.
Killzone 2 (PS3 exclusive) - Again this is about taste, I loved Killzone 2 and put over 200 hrs in the multi player, some people don't like it, but the upgrades in MP and mixing of abilities really hooked me into this game.
Gran Turismo 5 (PS3 exclusive) - It's Gran Turismo but with NASCAR and F1 licenses. YAY!

Yes, I do indeed have a 360, and once I get my PS3, most likely it will remain my primary system, the PS3 will just be for some exclusives, or multi-platform games that end up with extras on the PS3 like some RPGs have had the benefit of. I may like my achievements, but I'm looking forward to the PS3's trophy system too. And just to keep this on topic of Uncharted 2, I've been considering buying it early to give to my friend as a pseudo Christmas present, and once he's done with it and I get myself a PS3, then I'll be able to play it as well. :D
