It seems I am likely moving there asap for work. It would be nice to at least semi-know some people in town to get beers with.

friggers, I wish I lived there, not only because of obvious reasons, but it's just a nice city.

He's pretty much a brilliant musical artist who committed suicide.

Too bad, he was pretty hardcore.

Awesome, thank you.

I fail at getting cred for knowing this Elliott Smith chap, but I'll track some music down and put it on my playlist for the flight if I actually get to do this.

What a dream job and a half.

Count me in the SF group. Even though I happen to not be there at this moment. So you can count me as one of your "fake internet" friends if you'd like. I'm not very exciting though.

Anyone in San Francisco?

So, I've been thinking, and... give me a year.

I was up in calgary for work several times this past year, and it was nice....didn't make it to Banff tho, which seems to be like *the* thing to do in that area. Stayed in Downtown (or DT as they call it?), and hated all of the food, except for a) this awesome little polish place run by three cranky polish women in the building I was working in, and b) the poutine at Dairy Queen...who knew!

Good luck if you end up moving to San Francisco, I think you'll like it alot....or at least I have for the past 7 years now. Just remember to do alot of exploring and find the right neighborhood for you..now's the time of year to Move, if you can, since rents are usually lower and availability is usually pretty reasonable (craigslist is your friend). Don't be too shocked by the housng/rent prices; hopefully your job/company will cover most the difference, if it's the kind of job where they're getting you to move here. :)

I live in the Sunset (SF) and work on Alcatraz, and like any excuse to go out for beer, especially at one of the numerous brew pubs we have in town. When are you moving to the City (which some like to call Baghdad by the Bay, but never "frisco" according to some locals)?

I'm in the east bay, although I stay in San Francisco sometimes.

Only problem is that its so expensive to live there.

It looks like I'll be in good company when I get to SF.

Right now the goal is to get me out there by the end of Q1, but I think it's more realistic to say it would happen by the summer. Moving to California in the summer sounds just perfect to me!

I'll try to pack some kickass local beers in my moving truck, to share with my new Diggnation neighbours.

Does he have to pay the fine, everyone? I mean, he wasn't using it to actually call SF "frisco". I say we let him off the hook... :D

Oh.

Summer.

We don't get California summers here.

Not the Hollywood kind.

Summer can sometimes be less pleasant than winter (winter = rain and summer = fog and there are pretty nice days mixed throughout).

Some claim (probably not true) that Samuel Clemmons - a resident at the time - once said "the coldest winter I ever spent was a summer in San Francisco". Doesn't really matter if he said it or not as it's true.

With that said - I LOVE the climate here. Never gets too hot or humid, never gets too cold, storms are infrequent and usually pretty quick, there are flowers blooming at all times, and snow is something you drive to to play in.

It looks like I'll be in good company when I get to SF.

The company I work for has an office in SF, and they're looking to beef up their presence their. I'll be working for the same crowdsourcing startup I work for now, just in the US rather than in Canada.

It's going to cost me a fortune when the beer I'm used to becomes specialty imports.

Hell-monkeys! I can't edit my own posts? I know it should say "their presence there" and I'm embarrassed. I blame the beer. :p
