hey

I just watched the beef stew episode. If I might make a suggestion that Alex can appreciate. . . right before you transfer the braised meat & onions to the stewpot - crank up the heat to high for about 1-2 minutes . When good and hot, pour on 1 bottle of your favorite beer to deglaze the pan - it adds awesome flavor. Use a decent beer with some body - Sam Adam's Winter Lager works great. (or 12 oz wine )

The Newcastle is great for beef dishes, and as a way of keeping burgers moist on a grill. Its also great for grilling onions on a BBQ - sort of a cross between grilling and steaming, but they come out soft, cooked, and carmelised.

I know what I'm making this weekend....

You know, I love being part of a forum where others actually know how to cook as well.

They also forgot to thicken the sauce to make a gravy. They made vegetable soup not Beef Stew.
