Anyone tried out the software Psystar has put up for creating a Mac clone? Cnet reports on it at http://news.cnet.com/8301-13579_3-10381419-37.html?tag=newsEditorsPicksArea.0
I've downloaded it but not had a chance to try it out yet.
And obviously the thread title should have started "Psystar" and not "Pystar".

I've heard of it but haven't tried it. If the FCC would spend more time wondering why apple is locking Mac OSX, then net neutrality the could make it legal to run Mac OSX on a PC, it would be the death of Microsoft and the beginning of future computing. Who let apple legal install Windows any way?

Its a different marketing/distribution model.
Apple are predominantly a hardware company. OSX is designed to run on their hardware in an environment that they control. That gives the OS greater stability than Windows that requires a multitude of drivers from an array of vendors that don't necessarily behave. Hainvg OSX install/run on alternate hardware might seem like a great idea, but it dilutes Apple's reputation because suddenly they get blamed for the "my Mac (in reality a Hackintosh) keeps beach balling whenever I run FF4alpha and flash. OSX sucks." MS gets a bad rap for the Windows for exactly the same reason - poor drivers or hardware support.

Why do you think the FCC has any authority in matters regarding a computer OS? The FTC maybe, but only under certain conditions.
There is no Constitutional guarantee of a computer or a "good" or "bad" computer OS.
Now if a group of computer makers decided that their base computer would cost $1,000 and you are REQUIRE to buy a new monitor with each computer, then the Fed's would have a reason to get involved. Particularly if the computers had been sold for less before and no monitor purchase was required. Another example would be Microsoft and how they built in IE into the OS. If MS made an OS that you could not use an alternative web browser, then the FTC would step in.
