How big is your MP3 Collection? [Archive]

So, how big is your MP3/digital music collection? Either song amount or actually disc usage will work!

I am at 3,258 songs/8.5 days/15.5 gigs right now and growing everyday. This info is per iTunes

Here is a Q for everyone! I am wanting to move all my music onto my server or a NAS device. With iTunes, will I just have to go in, delete the library and re-add everything?

move the folder with the music in it, leave the xml and data files. then point iTunes to the new location in the Advanced Prefs

I currently have 3278 / 11.2 Gigs. To include a good deal of Podcasts. Still, only a small portion of my 60GB 4th Gen iPod (photo) is being used by audio.

I have all my songs on a NAS with rsync, and I stream all my music on my wireless LAN via iTunes. Works out great, and I don't have to worry about having 15GB of music on my laptop, when I can have them on a server in my house.

I've got 3,940 songs, 303 videos (including the entire series of Battlestar Galactica to date, and about a third of the Diggnation episodes, so long videos), and 421 photos on my 60gig iPod (they really only have a usable capacity of 55.6 gigs), and I've just got 16.3 left. I'm getting myself the 80gig for Christmas.

Hmm, hard to answer now I'm in class and I keep my music on my external but it is something like 65 gigs give or take 1 or 2 gigs. Dunno how many songs it is but there are plenty. Now to be honest that is a combination of mp3 and ogg files when I encode now it's always ogg using linux plus I think it sounds better.

Yeah, happens to me too. I will go through spurts of music and I will buy like 200 dollars worth of obscure CDs and rip them and then buy nothing for like 3 or 4 months.

oink.me.uk - Probably the biggest music bittorrent site around. Invite only and a ***** to keep the ratio though.

I prefer getting music from alt.binaries.sounds.mp3.complete_cd or alt.binaries.mp3 - no ratio and quicker downloads, though it doesnt have as much of a selection :/

I tend to do that a lot. I'll "preview" an album and if its good I'll pay the $10 to buy it and support the band.

Not really. I don't want to have to find the certain forum that something should fit in if I can just toss it in Gen. Discussion. Thats where most of it is gonna end up anyway. I don't think many people will use it, but I guess you could make a poll about it.

58 GB around 11,000+ songs -- but not all of it is mine. My friends & I back our music up in each others' HD. So anytime someone's HD breaks down, we can just borrow each other's HD. Re-ripping those CD's and reorganizing all the music would be hell. I'm so paranoid, I'm thinking of storing the music online, in case all the HD's break down at the same time. :o

ten characters.This post (http://revision3.com/forum/showthread.php?p=219988#post219988) inspired me to clean up my digital life on my hard drive. I had so many bullshit MP3's in my MP3 folder it finally got to me. I decided to go through all 13k+ songs and only keep the ones I actually care about and will listen to. I am SHOCKED at how much shit I deleted.

Before:
67.1 GB - 12,864 files - 647 folders

Now:
10.7 GB - 1,975 files - 0 folders

Deleted:
56.4 GB - 10,889 songs

SO much better. I can now literally load my MP3 directory, put it on shuffle, and love every song that gets played.
