Alright, so basically, I just got an iPhone because Telus has finally enabled us to use one of the legendary phones of the decade thus far.

I have seen the 80,000 Apps Available number floating around, and AppJudgment holds up some pretty awesome reviews (love it). However, here is my back story.

I am coming from generic T9 phones to Blackberry devices, and I am used to basic email push services, simple web browsing via Opera Mini, facebook and twitter (damn upgrade brokeded it), and simple things.

I feel like I want to get more out of what a blackberry was able to do, and the abilities in the iPhone seem to overshadow anything that blackberrys are offering (even with the Storm2 coming out).

My question is. My email client, i have to launch it to check it (no notifications automatically. ok.) but as far as taking advantage of what I would do in my spare time (playing video games, checking digg, checking various news RSS feeds and whatever), what kind of applications are available that allow you to quickly view news, upcoming events in your area, maybe allow you to quickly link facebook/myspace/twitter notifications in 1 app that constantly monitors (like every 30min or 1hr). Things like that.

I got it because I really like the smoothness of the interface compared to the blackberrys, htcs and such. I am really loving it after 1 day with it. Real Racing rules btw. :)

Wow really. Ok, Well. I got addicted to TowerMadness. Very addictive. Still not really using the phone I guess. I play games on it, the calendar app is pretty dumb. I wish there was a way to set txt message ringtones but, alas, i'm stuck with like 6 to choose from.

For notifications of Facebook & Twitter, I'd recommend the Facebook app (when it has push notifications in 3.1), or Boxcar (http://boxcar.io/). Boxcar comes with one free service for notification, with the others being one or two dollars each. Free RSS Reader is a great... well, free RSS reader. It's simple, although adding feeds is a bit of a pain (be prepared to copy/paste from Safari or an email alot).
