Stories were from 3+ weeks ago this week and their shirts never changed the last 3.
I miss old diggnation =(

I don't understand why this matters, all four episodes at Albrecht's house were good episodes. Get over it. :\

What "Old Diggnation" to you refer to?

I guess he means when they did one episode a week.

He means when they used to talk about current stories. This show relies on its hosts too much.

please defer to Godmode's post above... but also, a show that claims to talk about the current top stories on Digg, should probably at least try to stay current. Also, it kind of makes people feel a bit cheated, because they know that Rev3 has been sitting on an episode for 2 weeks now before releasing it, and the way most internet stuff is released any more is in a "it goes live when it's ready" fashion.

Also its bullshit they try to pull a fast one on fans by putting an overshirt on or something.
And you know what "Old Diggnation" im referring to =)

I am still trying to find the current stories on Digg that people are referring to.
Diggnation isn't about the stories - its personality driven. They could be doing "US Weekly Nation" (hmmm ...) and the stories would be just as relevant, and Alex and Kevin would have just as much insight into what they are discussing (little to none - but it doesn't matter, they have an opinion, and its generally entertaining).

It's common knowledge that they film multiple episodes at once. They've never tried to hide it. Prager freely admits it.
FWIW, They've been recording multiple episodes at a shot nearly as long as the show has been produced. And, I don't find the show significantly different in flavor than when it was first produced. Unless, you're talking about it being better sponsored now.

I'm so sick of threads like this. Seriously, use your brain and look around - yes! They film multiple episodes in a row! Yes! They've been doing it for a good two or three years now! Yes! Nobody truly cares anymore, because it's NOT a problem!

but if people keep making threads about it, would that mean that some people think it IS a problem? Also, they've been known to film 2 episodes at the same time, this thread is bringing up the fact that it seems like they recently did at least 3 or more episodes at the same time. i.e. not the same thing they've been doing for a while.

Not particularly, there are somewhere between 10-20 total threads about this as far as I can remember, and how many people watch Diggnation in the long run? The ratio is less than every 1 out of 1,000 people expressing any feeling of dislike over it, even if it's 3 in a row.

actually, I'd say the ratio is significantly lower. There are tons and tons of people that watch and don't even visit the forums, but let's also not forget that some people might not like it but will never actually say anything about it, maybe because they think that saying something won't actually get anything done. I'm not trying to just say I agree with him. (I do) but I think there is a better way of handling these threads than just someone coming in and basically telling them they should ignore their problem with the show... we probably need a common thread, preferably with the first post saying "complain here, not like they will do anything, but at least you won't be trashing up the forums with duplicate posts."

Just because the episode is taped doesn't mean it is "ready." There is actually quite a bit of work that goes into it after the fact. Just ask Mau/Hippie/Joey.

They choose the stories that are most popular (not most recent) and/or that they personally care about. So filming multiple episodes in one sitting doesn't matter. Relaaaaax.

I do wish they would pick more current stories instead of showing some random internet videos. The people that watch this show (digg users, internet junkies,etc..) have probably already seen the video. They (the cat videos, high five guy) are funny but are very seldom deep or interesting. Isn't the Digg Reel for this stuff? Also seems like a lazy way to pick a "story". How bout keeping the balance in favor of more thought provoking stories and less image and video stuff.
I've also noticed they seem to rush through shows when they film back to back. Is it 30 minutes with 5 minutes of sponsor talk or is it 50 minutes with 10 minutes of sponsors? I usually could not care less at this randomness but sometimes it makes a episode feel cheap and quick. Maybe they could make a way for viewers to rate the episodes so I would know the less entertaining ones and I could skip if it received low ratings or less diggs...:)
Still good overall though.

I understand that, but, imo, the perception is still "filmed at the same time means should be ready at the same time" We, at least locally for me, saw a similar effect with the LotR movies. since they were all filmed at the same time, I heard (literally, as in IRL) a lot of people complain that they were "delaying" the releases to "maximize profits". They completely ignored the fact that there was a lot of post production...
basically, I'm just saying some people might feel like they are getting cheated.
@jackierulesall I agree, they've been picking popular stories... unfortunately those stories where popular a week or two ago and in some cases means that Diggnation misses covering some really big news until a week or so down the line. The fact remains that they are picking stories off of a news aggregation web site. The stories will be old but I'd rather it be 3-4 days old than 10-14 days.
and I can't agree more with haqattaq, seeing videos and the like pop up where Alex and Kevin don't add anything more than their reaction to it, is pointless to me. cause, as mentioned, in most cases the people that hit digg have already seen the video. I'd much rather see stories that incite good discussion between the two than just playing a video.

Nope. And if the time they have been doing the multiple tapings now exceeds when they didn't then wow...
I'm frankly getting tired of these "diggnation is going downhill" posts... not that I don't agree with them 100%, but because I've come to realize that no matter how much we want the old diggnation back (and by old diggnation I mean episode 1 to about 75), Rev3 seems to be just peachy with the way the show is now and don't seem to care too much that people post these over and over again. We know what Rev3 thinks of forum posts internally (thanks to Dave Randolph's blog post) so it no longer makes sense to bitch, other than to make ourselves feel better.
My suggestion to Rev3: prove us wrong. listen to the forum posts for 1 episode and see what happens... i think you'll be pleasantly surprised how much better the show could be. If it doesn't work, oh well... its not like the show hasn't had its share of dud weeks.

We have all heard the arguments. "Increase Revenue or Reduce Cost." Revision3 increases revenue with ads and the forums cry. They reduce cost by lumping together eps, and the forums cry.
Bottom line - Guess what. I'm in agreement with the crying in the forums.
This should all be transparent to the viewer. The formula = Entertaining hosts talk about relevant news while a little tipsy = GOLD. Mess with the formula and you get BRONZE.
Yes, its tough to do. Do we say "Aww that's ok, you tried your best" to your pro football team? NO. Does CBS go on the air and say "Stop complaining about Katie Couric. She's the best we got"? NO. They both hear the feedback, make adjustments and continue to try and grow. And, NO, we shouldn't stop bitching about it. Unless Revision3 wants us to stop caring.
Coke makes new flavors now. They learned the hard way not to change the original formula.

Well put.
Although I don't like ads, I realize they are necessary. I can live with them, even the excessive amounts that we have now (went from small ad in show to pre-roll and post-roll flash ads, pre-show ads, full ad in show, scripted conversation between kevin and alex about the ad, and kevin and alex stuffing their faces with klondike bars pretending they love it).
However lumping two episodes together because the hosts are busy with other things? QQ... its their job. I'm busy with sleeping in but I'd be fired if I didn't cut that short to get my ass to work by 9. Although I would hate to see it happen, if the hosts can't do their job they should be replaced with someone who can. Expensive to fly one host to the other host every week instead of every other week? Again, QQ... not our fault. They are the ones that choose to live where they live and work where they work.
As Murphy1d said... don't mess with the formula. You had it right the first time.

Don't sign it then. I on the other hand think it's better to do something, than nothing.
And yes, I know, that probably it won't change anything, and maybe even no one will bother to sign it. But it sure won't hurt anyone, and I will sleep better at night knowing I did at least something.

 Just because you don't pay cash for something means it's free. If you can't see that then you are a person who doesn't see beyond whats put in front of them.
HINT: Time is money, we spend time watching ads, ad companies pay for the show = NOT FREE
and although the petition probably won't get anything changed, I applaud TheDude01 for actually trying to do something to help fix the show. There is obviously problems with the show, but too many people come into these topics that pop up once a month and don't offer anything constructive. Simply saying "Stop watching if you don't like it" is avoiding the problem, not addressing it.

you should add also in your "HINT", "ad companies pay the show to put ads in, so that the audience will watch them" i.e. The show is getting paid because you watch the ads.

Hey genius, point out to me where I said it was free. Apparently you are one of those that not only cant see beyond what is in front of you, but can't even see what IS in front of you; So I at least am ahead of you there. :)

Obviously? That's an opinion, and judging by Diggnation's continued growth and success, not a very prevalent one.
