thats just it, it's a show, not so much of a tutorial. It should involve more of PS and less of Bert looking into the camera explaining, instead just explain as a voice over, just my opinion.

If you are looking for a tutorial, you should consider the "Little Professor Home Video Series".
This is edutainment. Ask yourself, from this show, what have I actually learnt. You might surprise yourself.

I've always thought that Burt's main focus was demonstration, not instruction. However, he does write books.

Well I thought it was meant to be tutorials because he said e-mail if you want to know how to do something, but then again I just use creativecow. :D

I'm not sure what show you've been watching but so far, on each ep Bert explains how to do everything that he's doing on screen and explains why he's doing it.

i agree with these guys, what more do u want a tutorial to do, he already explains whats going on and even what shortcut keys to press for PC/mac.
I think the show's format is absolutely great, and I don't think any of it should change.
I just wish I knew exactly what to suggest to Bert to do episodes of. This seems to be by far the best way to learn Photoshop that I've ever seen.

What are you talking about? whaa? it's a great show and tutorials.
however, i have to say the side view on the cintiq is kinda hard to see what's going on in the screen just use the screen cap instead, or does he want to show something else?

Jesus: in my opinion, there are simply NO BUTS to Bert's Video Tutorials. Call them what you wish, he is a excellent instructor. I am also a member of NAPP and have access to Photoshop TV and also appreciate its great content. Bert's Quicktime tutorials are easy to follow and what's more imprtant, Bert is a COMUNICATOR: he has a great facility to transmit his knowledge. I am not a beginner in PS and cerainly beleive I learn new things in his shows.
KEEP IT UP BERT

In my opinion, there is no better way to explain a concept than to demonstrate it. And apparently, Bert thinks likewise.

Just spent 7 hours yesterday listening and watching Bert work on the Photoshop CS Seminar. Awesome!! What blew though was coming back to the office and totally forgetting steps, this Forum will completely refresh me. On camera or not, keep em coming!
If the seminar passes through your town, Take it!

I think this podcast is an excellent resource, which might i add is free. Impressive in itself to get free training like this. The episodes in which he explained specific tools such as the brush engine or pen tool have been exceptionally helpful.
The only thing I'd ask is that instead of showing us side perspective shots of Bert's hand and stylus on the screen, just show us the screen itself more often. There have been several times I've been trying to follow him and couldn't quite see where he was at on things. I'm sure this is partially by design as he's always saying to play and figure it out. Just a thought.

I think that's what "Jesus" was trying to say in the initial post.
I know it drives me nuts when Bert does something, and says "See that?"... and the editor picks that exact moment to cut to the wide shot of Bert. No, Bert, I didn't see that, because the &#^$*% editor decided not to show it!!
I love Bert, and I don't mind seeing him when he has some strictly verbal information to impart... but when he's demonstrating techniques, I'd much rather see the feed from the computer screen than his talking head-- or worse yet, the over-the-shoulder shot of the stylus waving over a blurry gray shape. That shot might look fine at standard resolution, but when the show is being fed at such low res, there's no way you can see the "marching ants" of the selection area, something that is critical to most of Bert's techniques.

Clarification: By "low-res," I was referring to the Small Quicktime version of the podcast, which is still the only version listed in revision3's page on iTunes. By searching for "PixelPerfect," I found that the Large Quicktime version is now also available through iTunes... but my comments about the editing still stand.

I don't even think you should be watching this low-rez. I do agree on the over the shoulder shots. I think in some cases it might work but very few times it does. I do like it when he speaks into the camera because it just feels more personal.

Yeah I agree. They are great. The only person I get mad at is the damn camera man. Like Bert's wacom is cool and all that but showing that is not a good idea with the reflection it gives and then you cannot see what bert is doing.
I get lost a number of times because of that camera shot.

well part of that may actually be an advertising issue, being a former television student and a current graphic design student i can say that most people don't talk a lot about their products at the beginning of a show unless they are trying to appease sponsors or get new ones and coincidentally if they were using this as an opportunity to advertise its a small price to pay for absolutely fantastic instruction. i can say that i have learned more watching these programs than i have through many books or in class teaching, i find most classes are too lengthy and repetitive and i like bert's no nonsense style and great demeanor. this is a fabulous program and it's making me seriously consider donating, which being a poor college kid working nights and double majoring during the day while balancing my marriage and sleep i can tell you it's no big feat. no to convince the wife.
