In early June I will be graduating and I'm really pumped. I've pretty chained down and haven't been almost anywhere outside of New England. Sometime during my summer break I really want to go on a road trip cross country with a few friends before I go to college. Every kind of geeky thing I've wanted to do is not during the summer.

CES is January 8-11
Burning man is August 27-September 3
Maker Faire is April 22-23
Def Con is August 3-5

All except E3 which is July 11-13. But E3 is only open to industry people. So to my question... Where the eff can I find a huge event that will be geeky and fun? Anyone with any ideas, or with experiences on road trips, please share.

Also, I had an old friend who I lost contact with that wrote a few articles for a gaming website. He was given a free pass to E3, but had no intention of going. Would that be something worth looking into?

edit: Aww, crap, it looks like it's going to be in March or April. Scratch that...

Burning Man will be worth taking time off for.

Geekprom looks pretty fun.

I would take off time for burning man if it were in the middle or end of the year, but it's within the first three weeks of my freshman year. It wouldn't be a good start.

It'd be the BEST start! :D
