DirecTV just launched a satellite that will come on-line with some 3D programming in the 2Q of 2010. It will be formally announced at the 2010 CES in January.

Before people get 3D crazy, right now there is ONE 3D HD remote production truck that I know of in the US. Regular 2D HD trucks are common, very common today. The cost of building a new truck is rather high and no one in the economy is building trucks unless they have signed multi year contracts to cover the costs.

Who is creating the programming I don't know, but it will not last unless sponsors are paying for it. Finding sponsors is the tough part today.

It'll be at least 5 years to be somewhat mainstream. It will never go completely and I'll tell you why. Have you ever been to a 3d movie and sat and watched it for 3 hours? Now imagine doing that day in and day out to watch regular televisions. I would have a huge migraine and so would many others from what I can tell after talking to people who watched Avatar as I did. I got a major headache driving home after. Are all the broadcast stations and TV makers forgetting this fact? Many many people get headaches from these things.
