I loathe costume parties. If you ask me to make a costume you are basically forfeiting your present. In fact, I am the kind of person that has come wrapped in alfoil "from the future" because an invite didn't specify which "'50s" they were talking about. In fact, I've done it twice. And for a masquerade party I wore a paper bag on my head. With no eye holes. And by wore I mean carried. So yeah, I'm that guy.

Nevertheless, where the situation allowed I have been able to make it geeky enough to be bearable. Case in point - Desmond from Lost and Zuko (from Zelda: Wind Waker (http://www.zeldawiki.org/Zuko)) for a pirate party.

What's the best thing you've gone as to a costume party?

Pippi Longstocking's dad (theme: the seven seas)
Toothbrush in my hair (theme: "you've never seen me like this before")

Both immensly successful, actually.

I like that you take the themes to such an unexpected place. What were the reactinos to the paper bag and the alfoil?

I once went as a pervert and I rigged a fake erection in my pants. I also had a sweet mustache.

For Halloween freshman year, my friend and I wore black underwear and wrapped ourselves in caution tape. We were "danger" hahaha

Sounds like a Wednesday to me.

I have been "Static Cling"

I pinned socks, underwear, dryer sheets and pieces of fuzz all over me. It went over well.

I once went dressed as a gunslinger with full zombie make-up and a bullet hole in the middle of my forehead. The concept was "2nd fastest gun in the west"

I also did a pretty good devil costume once. Red make-up, nice black suit, black finger-nail polish, horns, etc etc etc.

Alfoil always goes over well. Last time I did it, I concocted an increasingly silly apocalyptic future scenario. The bag was a bit more time-constrained - I had been rostered on to work until 11pm, so by the time I got there everyone was already over the whole mask thing. I just grabbed a bag as I headed out the door.

Thanks bro. It means more to me to entertain people I respect, than a room full of random laughing idiots.

We'd have a fun beer together one day Wil, I'm sure.
