Hey mac fans,

I want a mac, and hopefully someday I will have one soon.

I am looking for a Windows XP application similar to "Pages 2" (iLife '06).

What's the best similar app. out there?

Word?

XP applications aren't nearly as pretty as Mac applications. I don't think you'll find anything that will let you format a layout/page any better than that.

Try Quark Xpress. It is pricey, but it will do what you need and has versions for both Windows and Mac.

I think the manufacturer offers a free download with an evaluation period to try it.

Well, I'll be damned! Looks like there's an Open Source Desktop Publishing Software called "SCRIBUS (http://www.scribus.net/)". I'm going to download it and try it out.

The equivalent (in fact, more functional especially if you buy it as part of Office) would be Publisher. It comes bundled with the Small Business Edition version of Office. The templates aren't as shiny, but it does a better job.

Publisher is definitely easier to use than Scribus.
It indeed has templates, not the best, but at least I can use it until I switch to mac in a few months. Thank you.

Well... by then Vista will be in full swing and Office 2007 will be out. Why move towards more of the same - or even in some ways inferior?
