Hey everyone,

I wanted to get your opinion on something. I'm thinking of hosting a youtube/google/etc video contest on my site (in sig). The prize would be at least $1000 (with an equal amount going to charity), and the winner would be determined by objective measures like view count, rather than a panel's opinion.

Is this something that you think people would be interested in? Or should I scrap the idea altogether?

Thanks,
Anita

Your main problem with youtube would be eliminating the view hackers.

We're actually doing something similar to that where I work, and we've had issues with people gaming the system and with finding enough decent content to make it appealing to viewers.

How were you planning to promote the contest?

In terms of promotion, I wasn't 100% sure. My basic thoughts:
I was going to create a video of my own, require submitters to include a quick 1 second banner at the beginning and end of the video, create a youtube contest group, and let the other 500 or so bloggers I frequent know.

Let me know if you think this idea is a dud ...
