I need to get a DVI to HDMI connection. Which one is a better ... DVI to HDMI adapter (http://cgi.ebay.com/HDMI-Male-to-DVI-D-24-5-Female-Adapter-for-HDTV-DVD-PC_W0QQitemZ280447436313QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_Defa ultDomain_0?hash=item414bf84619) or cable (http://cgi.ebay.com/6FT-DVI-To-HDMI-Male-Cable-PC-Mac-dvd-Xbox-PS3-HDTV_W0QQitemZ370273859082QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_De faultDomain_0?hash=item56360ab60a)? Is there a slight quality loss in an adapter compared to the cable? Is there any benefit in either over the other?
Thanks for the help in advance.

No difference. Remember that DVI can not carry sound unless you are using a device that specifically supports this.

Really the only key difference is if he has a dvi cable laying around. If not, he'll need to get one with the adapter.

I have a ASUS EN8800GT/HTDP/1G connecting to a Vizio 26" HDTV.
Under "Change Resolution" it lists HDMI - HDTV(Audio Enabled). When it's enabled, audio is "sent" through the adapter. In reality DVI doesn't pass audio, so no audio unless I manually disable it. It doesn't stay disabled for long. Gaming on my HDTV has no audio because it enables the setting every time. Does anyone know how to turn off/disable this setting permanently so I can play PC games on my HDTV?
