Jack probably survived by feasting on blood and neck parts of chinese guards, like how he killed off that one guard.

Has the guy Jack saved from the air strike been on any other TV shows? He looked kind of familiar.

Has the guy Jack saved from the air strike been on any other TV shows? He looked kind of familiar.Yep. He was Dr Julian Bashir on Star Trek: Deep Space 9.

His name is Alexander Siddig, his friends called him Sid. He was also in "Reign of Fire" (the dragon movie set in the near future), and played an Arab prince in "Syriana" with George Clooney and Matt Damon, and was in "Kingdom of Heaven" with Liam Neeson and Orlando Bloom. Sid gets around.

I love his character in 24. Looks like he is a ruthless asshole in this one - complete opposite of his DS9 character. I like to see Sid vicious :) (terrible pun ... but I had to do it).

Oh yeah - and as for "What Would Chloe Do?", after last nights performance, I think it is realign the satelite and pout in a corner for awhile, scowling at whoever crosses her path. She kicked ass in the last series. I hope she gets out of the office in this series as well.

Thanks! I thought he was the doc in DS9, but I wasn't watching the show with anyone who would have know Trek stuff. I do like his character. The knife in the knee was brutal!

Just got back to the UK from snowboarding in Whistler and this was advertised like crazy while I was they, so I give up and finally watched 24 I got the first 4 hours yesterday and watched them back to back its was amazing, going to start buying the DVD's of the previous seasons once this one is finished. Thought I'd check out what you guys thought on the forums of this season.

Looking forward to Heroes return next week just heard its been picked up for a full 2nd season.

Anyway got to go its 3.50am here I cant get over the jet-lag so looks like a 2nd sleepless night but I'm going watch episodes 3 and hopefully 4 of Geekscape until I can get to sleep.

Because YOU demanded it.

"I'm back."

After watching the first two hours, Ron is convinced that Jack Bauer is now Batman (with guns and no aversion to killing), so I guess that makes this somewhat comics related.

24 is Ron and I's favorite show on TV. By far. Guess who is gonna suffer because of this? The other big show on at 9pm on Mondays - Heroes. Thanks to our DVRs we'll still watch Heroes, of course, just not live(ish).

This thread will serve to host discussion on 24 throughout the course of the entire season.

No sense in duplicating threads in forums.
iFanboys meet formers Dromers. Former Dromers, meet iFanboy. Play nice :)

Lets keep this discussion going -

Based on The 24 Drinking Game (http://www.ringthis.com/tv_drinking_games/24.php), how are we so far? 4 hours into the day and only 1/4 of the bottle of Jack drunk so far?? We can do better than that.

I think the drinking game rules need modifying - suggest replacing the "Kim" references with "Chloe" references. With Wayne Palmer now being POTUS, the Palmer references are good again.

24 still leads the genre, but I really think Sleeper Cell (http://www.sho.com/site/sleepercell/characters.do) captured the terrorism angle better. Jack might be the guy you want tracking down the bad guys, but if you had to have someone on the inside Darwyn was definately the man.

Although I'm enjoying my first season of 24 I hope Heroes competes ratings wise I love heroes I know its had season 2 order but American Tv seems so rating dependent I'm worrying for its future.

fred
01-21-2007, 02:32 AM
The whole ratings system is broken and it needs to be fixed. For instance there are many people who are fans of both 24 and Heroes. Many of these people have DVR or Tivo or something like that. Not many people are going to stop watching Heroes altogether because of 24.

Hey Fred when you download do you watch it on your computer or do you shift it to your TV/home theater? I only ask because to me it isn't even worth it to see it a couple days early if I have to watch it on my computer. I'd much rather wait and watch it on the big screen with surround sound. Of course if I had an easy way to stream to my TV with high quality (i.e. appletv or something similar) I would go your route.

I smells U.S. government complicity in these nuclear attacks. Even if it's just a few rogue generals looking for an excuse to turn the Middle East to glass. No i don't but at the same time I'm not going to let it stop my enjoyment. I also think that this Jack's father thing and also the Wayne Palmer's sister things were pseudo deus-ex-machina.

While were on the subject of things I'm ignoring, James Cromwell is really great and I like him. He is not Jack Bauer's dad. Jack Bauer is like McGyver, Chuck Norris, and Superman rolled into one. The dude from Babe is not his dad

Ha. I think I disliked her character so much b/c she was a prime example of how during Season 1 and 2, the main female characters on that show were either entirely evil (Sherri, Nina) or made incredibly poor decisions (KIM!!!). Nice to look at, but I recall just rolling my eyes at some of her dumb decisions. Maybe I just became extra bitter b/c all of those other female characters, who I found more interesting, have since been killed off.

Dr. Larry Fleinhardt is a good actor. He is entirely convincing as both a totally sympathetic character (Numb3rs) and a complete scumbag (here).

I am still mystified that the President would have a Chief of Staff he seems to not entirely trust and seemingly, possibly despises. That's supposed to be his most trusted adviser!

I've got 24 news! Well, 24-related news!

I won't be doing a 24 diary this week (And possibly the next three weeks). Shocking, yes. Sad, I know. Crying, I'm sure you are.

Basically, what it boils down to is this - prior to 24 being back, iFanboy used to have a weekly Monday night ritual - dinner and Heroes and Studio 60. And then 24 came back and Ron and I defected to watch 24.

But now with - purportedly - only one month left in the life of Studio 60, we are being enticed back to the Flanagan abode. Also, we are being promised homemade cookies.

So, I leave the live blogging to you fine folks. I look forward to reading them.

fred
02-11-2007, 06:53 PM
I'll still be doing it. Won't be the same without you though.

As for Heroes, two weeks ago I decided to not watch Heroes on Monday anymore because it can't follow 24 very well. I just finished watching Monday's episode earlier and I enjoyed it again. So it worked

Studio 60 is not coming back next season?! :( I'm heartbroken...

It's being put on hiatus with no set return date. 9 times out of 10 that means the show is toast.

To be honest, I'd be more upset if 30 Rock went away. That show has grown very quickly into a half an hour of inspired lunacy.

NBC TO BENCH STUDIO 60, 30 ROCK
NBC plans to pull its critically praised but ratings-challenged comedies Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip and 30 Rock from its schedule next month, replacing them with two new series. The Black Donnellys is set to debut on Monday, March 5 at 10:00 p.m., following the network's hit drama Heroes, while Andy Barker, P.I., starring Andy Richter takes over the 9:30 pm. time slot on Thursdays beginning March 15. The network promised that Studio 60 will returned "later this season on a date to be determined." 30 Rock is scheduled to return on April 19.
