If you want MKV support for PS3 then visit here login to your PlayStation Network account and vote UP this idea. SCEA has developed a website where users can submit ideas and rate them so they can improve their products and services.

I had to research mkv. never heard of it. I would prefer ogg as it is more universal. mkv could become a patent victum.

MKV is used for more or less all pirated high-definition media.

Yep. Anyone claiming it is for their "home movies" is kidding themselves - it is not a format you would use natively. If you had the original media from a home movie it would not be transcribed as an MKV file.
