Hey People,

Been listening for a month or so, and plowing through the "back issues". Great stuff!

I'll confess I never buy single issues, and always pick everything up in trades. Even worse, I'm starting to forego the trades and wait for the collected hardcover!

Just finished reading: Brubaker's Cap run (to #24), Exterminator's vol 1, Wanted, Criminal, Fell, and Runaways Vol 3. I'm desperately waiting the release of the new Powers trade....

Hi guys!

Registered a few months back but I don't think I've done the introduction thing yet. Been listening to the podcast since the fabled San Diego Con video (I guess that makes it almost a year) and I've been listening religiously every Sunday since. Only problem is that with the time difference you guys keep me up till something like 3AM. As a result Monday mornings have been particularly gruesome this year...

When I first started listening I kept confusing Ron with Josh and vice versa but now I've learned that the guy who laughs all the time is Ron and the guy who does the Maine voice is Josh. Conor I had pegged from the beginning since I figured that the guy with the deep voice is probably going to be the huge dude with the shaved head.

Also big fan of the video podcast. ("Love" was by far the best episode ever!)

Keep it up!

Hello people,

The name's Joel... but usually go my the moniker of Decarabas... abbreviated to just Dec.. Just started getting into the podcast and loving what I hear...
Coming from Australia, it's a very rare occasion to talk comic books/listen to other people talk comic books... even my fiancée hasn't seen my collection in it's entirety... Albeit she did by me the Absolute Sandman as a birthday present, so there's hope yet.

As for the whole Australian's finding it hard to get comics.. that's not entirely true, i mean we do have this one guy, he carts them around, trying to sell his wares right out of a kangaroo's pouch. i mean, it may not be the best system, but it works, and we're only a few months behind, but the point is at least someone is trying to do something in this damn country... and yes, the comic's may be coated in Kangaroo mucus and a little bit chewed around the edges, but that just enhances the reading experience, and i challenge anyone who says otherwise...

anywho, just want to say.. it's good to be on the forums =)

My name is Zac. i'm an LA boy who recently relocated to östervåla, Sweden. If you don't know where that is, or can't pronounce it, don't worry cuz neither can I. Been reading comics for a loooooong time. Really love the show....first one I've found I can actually listen to all the way through.
I've been a troller for quite a while but the recent 4th video show is what made me post. I learned that Josh actually shopped at my (former) local store. Can't tell you how hard it is to not be able to buy books every Wed. anymore. Now it's just trades with exorbitant shipping fees and 18 years worth of back issues (I'm only 30 (God I'm old)....good thing Int'l shipping charges by the cubic foot and not by the pound...or should i say kilo? Not adapting so well......)
Anyway, glad to be here and excited to be a part of the ifanboy family. Boys, keep up the good work. Looking forward to the ComiCon coverage (aargh first time I won't be there in 10 years...sob)

lol well its kind of a long story, but the short version is i've been married to a Swede for 8 years now and we were a little burned out on LA. add in that kid #2 was on the way and we made a small fortune selling our house (got out JUST IN TIME) and PRESTO, here we are.

i was a pretty successful management exec in the states.....now i just study Swedish, ride my motorcycle, and read all day. i call it my "comics sabbatical" lol

Yea. I know quite a few Swedes (that word kinda feels like a derogatory word to me, even though I know it's completely not) who live up in Big Bear during the winter. They're all cool, in my book. How long have you been over there?

Hi everybody,

I signed up a few days ago but I don't remember posting anything yet. I found the iFanboy video podcast while browsing through iTunes. Fanboy Radio wasn't enough for me and Battle of the Century wasn't getting updated that regularly. I love both the audio and video podcasts, and it's refreshing to hear a comics review podcast that isn't 80% rants about a comic.

When I'm not spending my money on comic books, I also play Heroclix. Any Clix fans here?

i've been enjoying the audio and video podcasts for a few months now. i also watch/listen to diggnation, totally rad show, bullpen bulletins, and the uncanny x-cast, all of which i discovered on itunes at around the same time.

Hi. My name is Chris Pelletier. I am a 40 year old father of two, husband (of one), and teacher. I have arrived fairly late to comic reading having only become a real reader over the past five years or so. I started out reading almost exclusively Marvel, but have been really enjoying DC more lately. Some of the titles I collect are Walking Dead, Cat Woman, She-Hulk, Daredevil, JLA, JSA, Countdown. I have really become much more interested in collecting trades lately. I like the chance to read whole chunks of story in one sitting, not having to wait for a month (or more) to get the next portion. Some of my most recent trades purchases are Absolute Watchmen, Exterminators v.2, Green Lantern Rebirth, Mouse Guard, Blankets, All-Star Superman, Beyond!, Manhunter v, 1&2.

Hey everybody!

My name is Dave, and I'm a comic fan. I am 18 years old and I work at a comic shop (Toy Soldier) in Amesbury, Massachusetts. My favorite titles are Transmetropolitan, Fables, She-Hulk, Y: TLM, B.P.R.D., Gumby, Ultimates, New Avengers - and whatever smattering of monthly issues are good every week. I've been listening to iFanboy for about a month now, and I figure it is as good a time as any to join the forum! Nice meeting everybody!

Välkommen till forumet och till Sverige, Zac!

If you want to avoid those high shipping fees for trades I can highly recommend www.adlibris.se . They're an online bookstore and have lots of TPBs. (Just got 52 vol 1 and some other stuff last week from there) They let you choose from two types of shipping: The first costs 19 SEK (about 3 dollars) total no matter how many books you order. And the second one takes one day later to arrive, but on the other hand shipping is totally free!!!

My LCS just closed down so I've been looking for online subscriptions for floppies and I think this seems like the best alternative: www.alvglans.se . Apparently they charge 9 SEK per dollar on the cover, but I don't know how much the shipping fee is. I haven't tried them out yet myself so I can't really recommend them, though they seem like the best alternative.

Hope that helps!

Hello. I've been listening/viewing/posting on the iFanboy site for a few months now. A freind of mine (who works with Ron) told me about the site. My name over there is Flounder. I tired to have Flounder as my name here, but someone already had it. I checked his profile and he signed up in 8/06 and never posted anything, so I figured this name was a good compromise.

I post sporadically, usually depending on how busy things are at work. But the forums here looked cool, so I figured I'd sign up and give it a shot.

Yep. Long story short, I was in South Carolina for work and the manager at the plant I was at said it was time for me to get my "Southern nickname", which I was told was "quite an honor for a yankee". I kind of look like the Flounder from Animal House. One guy mentioned it and it stuck.

Hey there,
My names Mike - i used to listen to ifanboy a while back but kids have kept me away from podcasts for about the last year or so. I've caught up though in the last few months - mostly.

Um..lesse, i'm a Marvel guy. I do a Marvel arody comic strip called Year one (its on a bit of a break atm) and also do comissions and cover recreations in that style..i also just started doing some colouring flatting work and also colour reconstruction on the marvel masterworks which is pretty cool. Other than i'm a stay at home Dad with 2 kids and also a co-owner of a small comic store.

i think thats about it...Really enjoy the show so i figured id pop by the forum.

I also love forums that have a "this week in comics" thread so i dont have to go and read each indiviudal comics thread - and since thats really the point of the podcast that shows you that i like ifanboy a whole lot.

I'm reading Bendis, B.P.R.D., All Star Superman, Criminal and a bunch of random floppies and lots of european stuff (David B., Martin Tom Dieck, Satrapi). I got back into american mainstream comics with civil war, and enjoy the post-Civil War Marvel U.
I'm basicly a Marvel-zombie, but I'm starting to get curious about the DCU.

I live in Redditch in the UK, have got back into reading comics in the last 18 months after a 10 year break. Mainly trying to catch up on stuff via trades, into crime & noir stuff like Criminal, 100 bullets etc and some Marvel and DCU superhero stuff, but I am always keen to check out anything new.

I am a graphic designer/illustrator and have a commercial website at www.mikeland.co.uk (http://www.mikeland.co.uk).

Yo guys whats up? Just joined the site and have been listening to a lot of ifanboy over the past few weeks. My name's Patrick and I’ve been collecting comics for about 20 years, but have recently given up on all my other hobbies to become a full time comic collector and part time dealer. Over the past few years, I’ve put together strait/complete runs of: Ultimate Spider-Man; Daredevil Vol. 2; Ultimate Fantastic Four and a few others. I’m still working on my Avangers and Captain America collections, though I’ve made some tremendous progress since I’ve rediscovered the hobby.

Here's my Need/Want list:

And that’s only a list of what I’m missing! If you have any of these that you’re looking to get rid of, let me know. I also buy comic collections! Tell me what you've got and we'll work on a price that's good for both of us.

Just making it official. Hi my name is pkbear and I collect comics. Oh, and I'm a grown up. I know it's ok to be a grown-up and collect comics cause when I was a kid my Mom would tell me "When you're 30 and living in your own house, you can leave your comics lying around but in my house they go in your room." Well, I'm over 30 (some would say way over) and on my second house. And I have a stack of file drawers that my Mom would be proud of just filled with comics. Of course, she didn't warn me that The Husband would be just as annoyed as she was at the practice of leaving comics strewn about.
Primarily a "DC guy", tho I pick up what intrigues me, heavy on the Batman.

Hi I'm chris. I am old! At least in comic book years. Well not Julie Schwartz old, but old enough. I ran a chain of comic book stores in the bay area called Comics & Comix (once the world's largest chain of stores). I met many pro's including Ron Lim, Kelley Jones, Sam Keith, Jim Starlin, Adam Hughes, Neil Gaimen, Chris Bachalo, Los Bros Hernandez, and even had two signings for Jack Kirby. I've seen fandom begin and become what it is now. It does make me a little sad to see that comics are no longer a kids habit (It's too damn expensive now), I liked it when kids who wouldn't read a book would take money out of their own pockets to buy a comic. Anyway I did attend the Ifanboy/Radshow party in San Diego for about 10 minutes lol. Long enough to meet Josh and Ron. I even tricked Ron into complimenting my recent weight loss lol. I would have bought a t-shirt but he didn't have any 2xl (C'mon he was selling to fanboys, what was he thinking?). I did get a picture with Rad guys but not the fanboys (maybe because Conor was too busy umm talking to a wom...uh someone int the bar lol). Anyway I love the show guys even though I hate your love of Bendis!!!

That's not why kids don't read comics. It's just that comics don't give enough bang for the buck. Pokemon cards are just as expensive and there's no way that comics can compete with video games.

Hello Everybody

My name is Michael aka Change aka Changerous or Changerous63. I collected comics when I was younger (1974-1989) and then fell out of it for many years. In 2005, I was working on a mural with a Star Wars theme and needed some reference material. I picked up some Star Wars comics and it got me back into the whole comics scene. My habit has kicked into overdrive in the last year or so. I went from a collection of about 500-600 comics to over 3200 now. Yikes.

I dig the female super-hereos mainly (go figure). I find I like certain writers and artists.

Podcasting has been a great way to connect with the comics world. I found iFanboy by way of the Pipeline Podcast.

Look forward to many more fun and informative shows.

- Michael

first time at the ifanboy forums, although i already posted a couple of times yesterday. not a regular at any forums, excepting the occasional daliance with dc's message boards. love the podcast, jealous that i don't have any close comic book talk friends to purge the hate each week--movie/tv pals i got, a fiance who'll listen to "what a crappy writer tony bedard is" each wednesday night, but nothing like the lengthy podcast type-conversation.

review comics each and every week at my own little website, do music takes with my buddy marty. fiance and i both living in brooklyn, but not the billy-burg, and i work in soho.

love jim hanley's, but i like the quiet vibe of time machine on 14th, even though you have to special order anything that doesn't have spandex characters.

eh-not much else, i guess--first three comics were an alan grant/norm breyfogle detective and two issues of the detroit justice league, which makes me a living irony. currently buy some regular superhero books from the big two, but most of the time i'd rather rock out some fantagraphics, some anders nilsen, and anything that Paul Pope drops. current favorite writer is grant morrison, and current favorite artist is...man, i don't know. sean phillips? darwyn cooke? a bag of dicks?

glad to be here. hope to stay.

I'm ... uh, new to the forums here. Hangin' in the south suburbs of Chicago and listening to ifanboy podcasts for about three months now. I really dig the round table-style approach to the discussions and I've enjoyed the new books that the guys have put me onto, like Black Summer.

I'm 32 ... got a 12 year-old who's hooked on comics, too. My favorites are Marvel books, getting started at the ripe age of 10 with Incredible Hulk and G.I. Joe. I've also enjoyed Wanted, JTHM, Prophet. Oh, and my son and I are big Godzilla geeks too. And Chicago Rush fans. Other stuff, too.

Hope I can contribute here without getting on anyone's nerves.

Hello everyone!

I found iFanboy a few months back and have finally decided to register at the forums. I'm about 6 months back into reading comics, after a 20 year hiatus. I've been a sponge reading everything I can get my hands on.

I'm usually not one for supes, but I'll dabble in them from time to time.

Anyway, I look forward to posting more.

Thanks!

Here's how it goes:

Is KMNOP an acronym? Kentucky Manatee...no.
K-M-N-O-P. That sounds...familiar.
What if I went through the alphabet? A-B-C-D-
This isn't helping.
I give up.
I just don't know.

Then there was a fire in the basement.

The Christmas lights had caught fire. Well, actually the Halloween scarecrow in the neighboring box caught fire. So I put it out using a quilted Christmas wall-hanging purchased at a farmer's market in 1997. I've ruined the quilt. There's a hole scorched into the N of "Noel". Now I've ruined a festive holiday decoration and I can't think of the name. I can't solve the puzzle. Hey....Noel is a name that people sometimes have!

Strange circumstances, but in the end....Paper win!

(Welcome, Noelle!)

Aw, thanks, man! That means a lot! :)

We just put the finishing touches on the scripts for the season finale, episodes 23 and 24, and I'm pretty proud of what we've done. I think we give a lot of answers to the mysteries, while setting up some cool stuff for a second season.

Ha! Thanks.

Yeah, dammit, we tried to get a listing in Wikipedia, but they took us down. :( Bastards.

My Wormwood series is an audio drama podcast, sort of a modern take on the old radio serials. It's about a town called Wormwood and the occult detective who is drawn into its mysteries.

Not that I mean to be plugging this in the Intro thread, but if you're a fan of Hellblazer, Lost, Twin Peaks, Buffy, Hellboy, or even the serialized nature of Heroes, then give us a listen!
