I thought the Ultimate books weren't going to do the whole Death, Resurrection, wash, rinse, repet type thing. Then: (http://marvel.com/catalog/?book_id=6300) they go and hint about bringing back Utl. Beast....

WTF mien....

If that's true it will be deeply, deeply disappointing.

Deeply.

I agree and disagree. I loved the fact that they dealt with things a lot more 'realistically' in the Ultimate universe, but I also loved Ultimate Beast. I'm torn.

Yeah, but isn't part of the fun of comics that idea that the rules basically state that a character, once dead, must come back from said death? I mean, not for everything, but in superhero comics, there's a sort of charm in that.

For some reason, it just doesn't bother me much. Proving once again, that the 3 of us from iFanboy never agree on anything.

I'm kind of torn on this. For one thing, Beast has always been a character that has transitioned occasionally. Examples include the blue version, the human version, the feral cat version, the smart version, the stupid version, the avenger, the defender, the x-man. So I don't think that it's crazy that they would want transition him from death to life.

ON the other hand though, this is Ultimate Beast and none of the things above happened to him. They happened to 616 Beast.

And Ultimately(yes it's a pun and a stolen one at that), I think I respect 'dead means dead' more

I agree with Fred. One of the things that has, to me, made the Ultimate books more exciting than the regular Marvel universe books is that there were consequences to actions and that when people died, the idea was that they'd stay dead. How is that not MORE exciting?

It makes the writers able to put them in actual danger which is inherently more exciting. The other danger though is that a bad writer and a bad editor could form like Voltron to do some really dumb shit

I don't know if they are gonna bring him back or if it's fake but if it is real at least it's Kirkman so you know it will be good.

As for the Scarlet Spider............... I got to say leave him dead , then again I never read the comic cause I couldn't stop laughing at the ripped t-shirt.

Being a bit of a 90s fanboy, I have always had a soft spot for the Scarlet Spider and that stupid shirt of his. Maybe they can have him guest star in that upcoming title that has Dark Hawk, Ricochett, and a few other D-listers. I think it's called LOSERS.

Is that the team from runaways? I heard that they are called Excelsior but can't use the name cause Stan "the Lawsuit" Lee said they couldn't.

Maybe they could do Ultimate Scarlet Spider they could call it Spiderman.

I stand corrected. The team I was talking about is called the LONERS

Pull up a chair and join the circle as writer C.B. Now they’re five young adults trying to stay out of spandex. I am not a huge fan of spandex superheros, so this line had me grinning like a cheshire cat :)

I actually thought the New Warriors book looked good too. I had not expected to

I fell that having Beast and the person who dies in 78 stay dead would have given the Ultimate series a less fantastical feel... not that the idea of mutants isn't fantastical... but slightly more real. The "he wasn't really dead" thing is a crock.

I think that they should stick with 'dead means dead'. I've gone back and forth on this a bit but now that I've thought about it more this is where I'll stand. This goes double for the Ultimate X-Men title because of Jean Gray. In Uncanny it was terrible that she had to die at the end of the Dark Phoenix Saga but bringing her back the way they did at the launch of X-Factor was bullshit. So were the other 83 times.

Yea, I'm looking forward to that book. I've always been a big fan of Richochet. Remember that Marvel book Slingers? With a couple of c-list kid superheroes? I had the first couple of issue from a while back, and I remember liking them a lot. Hm.

Wasn't the whole gimmick with the Slingers was that one or all of them were alternate identities for Peter?

I don't think I got that far, so I dunno. I do remember Spidey being prominently featured in the book, though.
