Hey Tekzilla people!
I've been recruited by a guy I know to help him set up an outdoor wireless network, and I have a good idea as to what I want to do with it, but I'm not 100% sure. Currently he has a WRT110 (no external antenna support) that covers his house and about 3 meters outside of it. What I need it to cover is ~180 meters to the east and then also a shed ~50 meters north-northwest. What I'm wanting to do is replace the WRT110 with the new E2100L (http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_results.phtml?product_id=0311759) and run a pair of high gain antennas outside to the roof (http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_results.phtml?product_id=0305649). (Note, I will also look for cheaper hardware. This is just my dream setup after reading the E2100L's features and specs.)
What I want to know is if anyone has any better suggestions/DIY solutions for this. Would just a range extender (e.g. http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_results.phtml?product_id=0212004) get me what I need?
There is some minor tree coverage to the north but it is clear to the east.
