I know talking about Civil war is so 2006 but I can't help it. I wanted to like this thing and the art is so good. But it feels rushed and the characters are off. The series kinda lost me after Goliath died for essentially no reason and then seeing all involved in his death practicaly remorsless.

And Reed can clone Gods. Alrighty.

I think these characters going at each other like this after having been friends for years might have been more acceptable had this series been longer. I just don't see these heroes being so quick to turn on one another.

What do you all think?

I'm one of the few people that doesn't like Civil War. I wasn't impressed with the art. I thought a lot of the art was inconsistent from panel to panel. In issue #1, Reed Richards looked like three different people through out the book.

I started to read the series in the beginning because I was lead to believe that you only had to read the main Civil War books to follow the story. That simply turned out to not be the case. Too much stuff happened between issue #4 and #5. If you didn't read ASM and/or FF, you didn't have a clue what happened. I went back and read those two books and ended up being ever more confused then before. FF totally contradicts the story that transpired in Civil War #4. When Sue left Reed.

I was also really turned off by how late every issue turned out to be. I thought it was rude on the part of Marvel.

In may of 2006.... yes almost one year ago, i was absolutly giddy for Civil War, i honestly could not wait for it.... i didnt sleep the night before it came out.

The first issue came out and i was in love, beautiful art and colors... great story (as it seemed then). I felt the same way for the second issue... this book kicks ass!

:::Then the Delay Came::::

so lets just discuss civil war as our years are... issues 1 and 2 can be counted as Civil War BD (Before Delay) and the ones after... well AD.

Civil War AD blows my nuts.
plain and simple... i cannot wait for this ****ing book to be over with. Its taken them almost 11 months to complete seven mediocre issues.... bullshit.

yes, theres a ton of plot twists... some i like, some i hate (damn you pennace!)... and you do need to read every book to get the whole story, contrary to what everyone says.

I also dont understand how heroes who have been friends for years can want to **** each other up so quickly as well. I know it would take alot for me to want to kill my friend... well, i did want to beat my friends ass when he ****ed my girlfriend last summer, but we still talk, I didnt clone jesus to throw him into the negative zone.

But the book is gonna be over in a week.... oh, wait, another delay, the book is gonna be over in another month, followed by 18 one shots to make up for the delays right?

Im gonna be releived as all hell... for the three days of fresh air before it happens all over again with World War Hulk (Who looks like gorgon).

But one good thing out of civil war... alot of my non-comic reading friends now read comics. so thank you to marvel, cause as we all know, theres not enough of us.

Yeah, the only parts of Civil War I have gone back to read more than once are the RUnaways/Young Avengers mini and the Wolverine arc.

I am so over Civil War, mostly due to all the delays, the ridiculous continuity issues, and the huge financial/reading commitment. The art is pretty though.

for an in depth discussion we had on this back when Geekdrome was still up and running go here to see my ardent defense of the series and a lot of bashing on it:

I haven't been reading most of the civil war tie-ins prior to civil war, but I liked the last FF b/c it continued to show that even though everyone was on opposing sides, they were still foremost a family/team just going through a really hard time. Even though they were against each other party-wise, they still managed to visit each other and such. Reed, I feel, in the Civil War series has been very one-dimensional and just seems like a mindless minion to Tony. But at least in the FF issue, they tried to humanize his size of things.

My thoughts on that are specific to just that one issue, since I haven't necessarily been reading all FF civil war tie-ins.

As a whole the CW FF issues have been a nightmare. There have been huge continuity issues and, in general, stunted forward motion and a lack of real movement within the storyline.

All-Star Batman & Robin is to DC, as Civil War is to Marvel.

Only Civil War isn't cancelled.

ASB&R hasn't been cancelled according to Dan Didio. Allegedly the subscription department just ****ed up

That's a shame. The book is like a sick horse that needs to be put out to pasture.

Seriously. A big "F*ck You" to Jim Lee would be if Miller drew the rest of the series himself.

a bigger **** you to Jim Lee would be if they got someone with no hands to draw the rest with their mouth

and it would come out more regularly
