Diggnation Episode 81 WMV Small works on Zune

The small version of the new Diggnation works on the zune without the software needing to do any conversion. Cool. So cool in fact I decided to download iFanboy and the new Infected in Small WMV to watch on my Zune. Except, those had to be converted by the software. So can someone answer me this. Is it something in the way I have my software configured, or did they just happen to find the magic settings on Diggnation WMV version to keep it from having to convert the file?

Its really starting to piss me off because the wiki says:

The initial release of the Zune Software supports the following types of files: Windows Media Audio (.wma), MP3 (.mp3), AAC (.mp4,.m4a,.m4b,.mov), JPEG (.jpg), Windows Media Video (.wmv), MPEG4 (.mp4,.m4v,.mov) and H.264 (.mp4,.m4v,.mov).

But anytime I try to put any move on the zune it has to convert it first then sync it. This has kept me from putting any movies on the device except when I was testing out the various codecs. Any help on this issue would be appreciated.

basically the it supports X file type means that it'll play most of that file type, i.e. I have a wireless media player that says it can play XVid, but out of the box it plays XVid w/ AAC really badly. After a little modding my media server settings (I'm using TVersity) it plays them smoothing and fine. But it also has problems with videos that are not in normal 4:3 or 16:9 resolutions.

So, it maybe that it does support WMV and etc. but it might be your file's specs don't exactly match what it can play. And also I believe the Zune will convert video down so that it can save battery life on playback.

As for Diggnation and not the others, my guess would be that they did it just to test it out. I mean Alex has a Zune and I bet they figure that some of their viewers do, so they can just be like "Get the small wmv, there will not be any Zune converting!"

I hope so because it looked really good with on my zune and I could walk around and do other things and just glance down every so often.
