I was watching the video cast (and I gotta say I loved the graphics at the start) and got to thinking what was my top 6 graphic novels/ trade paper backs. If some one did a tread like this on the site before, sorry but I couldn't find it.
1 - Watchmen
2 - The Dark Night Returns (the first trade paperback i ever owned. My brother bought it for me when he was in America about thirteen years ago and I read it till pages started falling out)
3 - Cerebus Church and State
4 - The Complete Bone (just got it for Christmas and really enjoyed it)
5 - Charlie's War (This is an english comic and if you have not read it and like war comics at all I advise reading it)
6 - The League of extraordinary Gentlemen 2
It's sunday morning and last night is still kicking me in the head so this list will more than likely be changed cause there is definitely something I am forgetting.

Pedro and Me - I can't help it. I remember watching Judd Winick on "The Real Word" and knew he would go somewhere. This is also my first graphic novel I bought and where I started collecting comics. :)
X-Men: The Dark Phoenix Saga - This is the first X-men story I bought along with "God Loves Man Kills. A friend of mine told me to pick it up. This is on my all time Marvel list.
V For Vendetta - This is the first Alan Moore story I read and I fell in love with it. If there is an Absolute version of this, I am so getting it. Loved the book and loved the movie.
Crisis on Infinite Earths - I love George Perez' art. I think this was my first DC graphic novel I got. This is my favorite Marv Wolfman story.
Infinite Crisis - I love Geoff Johns and Phil Jimenez. :)
#6.. hmm.. Toss up between Watchmen and Marvels

I agree with Crisis on Infinite Earths....effing LOVE that book. It was the second DC graphic novel I ever got (Kingdom Come first).
So....does having Infinite Crisis on your list mean you actually understand it? 'Cause that'd be damned impressive.
As for my list, while it's constantly changing, here's a stab:
1. Kingdom Come
2. Daredevil - Guardian Devil
3. Watchmen
4. Green Lantern - Rebirth
5. Wanted
6. Three way tie: The Death of Superman, Superman For All Season, Superman: Red Sun (There is no way in hell I could pick one)
ok giving this a shot
1. Maus
2. V For Vendetta
3. Daredevil Born Again
4. Batman Year One
5. New Frontier
6. Daredevil Yellow
maybe
I'm sure I've created some huge error and I'll be pissed at myself and repost
I suck at top whatever lists

Alright - I kind of posted this at ifanboy.com, but that was just my top 5. This is my top 6. Completely different.
1. Absolute Sandman Vol. 1
2. V For Vendetta
I really don't see how my top 2 will ever change. I love both books so much they blow everything else away in my opinion. Actually, wait, Absolute Sandman Vol 2-4 will be up there too. But you know what I mean.
3. Batman Year 1
I like Year 1 much more than Dark Knight Returns. And I like DKR a lot. So yeah, I guess I think Year 1 is pretty awesome.
4. Watchmen
I love it all - even the pirate bits.
5. Ultimates Vol 1 HC
The best superhero book of the past 10 years. Love the writing, love the art. Hate the fact that only 2 issues come out a year.
6. Absolute LEOG Vol 2
This was a tough choice. There are several books that I could have put in this spot, including: LEOG Vol 1, DC New Frontier, Kingdom Come, Marvels, or DKR, but I guess it came down to which book I want to read over and over again more than any of the others. LEOG Vol 2 fits the bill.
So there's my top 6. I would say the top 4 are pretty safe. #5-6 could change in the future I suppose.
Looking at that list, I guess I'm pretty boring. I like all of the safe bets. The only one that is kind of wacky is Ultimates I suppose, but even that one is pretty well-regarded. I wish I could stir up all kinds of controversy with my picks, but I gotta go with what I like.

As for understanding Infinite Crisis.. It took a re-reading of Crisis on Infinite Earths and a ton of questions to the guy at the Comic book store I go to.. I love Phil Jimenez' art.. I have a soft spot for his Wonder Woman..
The Wonder Woman: Red Son figure was the first figure of my Wonder Woman collection. :)

Here's my Top 6 (the order is irellivent, if i tried to actually rank these I'd be here forever):
drum roll please...
1. Sandman vol.4- if i could include the whole series i would, cause that's how i read them, but then i'd have a top 10 instead, so i put the one i liked the best.
2. Mage: The Hero discovered
3. Miracleman vol.3 Olympus
4. Absolute new frontier
5. Will Eisner's a Contract with God trilogy
6. Starman vol.1- same as with sandman, i read this series as a whole and this was the best one but the whole thing was great.

1. DKR - I have read this book. so many times and each time I get sucked in. I can't help it. I read it from start to finish, can't bring myself to put it down.
2. X-men: Dark Phoenix - I love reading this from the bottom up (Being essentials 1 when we first see the phoneix, till the end in essentials 2) Just a great story.
3. Marvels - Beautiful art, and makes your proud to be a Marvel Zombie.
4. Batman: Long Halloween: When ever someone asks me for a great Batman book, I give them this one. Possibly one of the best "early years" batman stories. 2nd only to Year One.
5. Wolverine (The Claremont Millar)- Before he was everywhere, this was THE book. And still I think the best Wolverine solo story to date.
6. I figure I'll find it soon.
4. Batman: Long Halloween: When ever someone asks me for a great Batman book, I give them this one. Possibly one of the best "early years" batman stories. 2nd only to Year One.
see what I'm talking about I forgot that one

Bone
Daredevil: Born Again
Usagi Yojimbo #3
Watchmen
Every time I do this, I get stuck at 4. Dang. So I guess I'll just throw up Fray by Joss Whedon and Powers #1. Hmm. Have to think about this one a little more.

See I knew some one posted it somewhere else. Sorry. I forgot about superman red sun, it really should be in my list best Lex Luther i have ever read.
Can I ask what LEOG is?
On a side note I just finished reading all the ultimtes for the first time and loved it..... not in my top five but still loved it.
LEOG is Alan Moore's League of Extraordinary Gentlemen

LEOG is Alan Moore's League of Extraordinary Gentlemen
What he said. Although I just noticed both of us called it LEOG when it should be LOEG. 90% of you probably don't care but I suppose if you don't know what it stands for it could cause confusion.

My top six TPBs:
1) Absolute Watchmen: Really there's no explanation needed here.
2) Absolute DKR: Same thing. Although, I was kind of annoyed that this edition didn't have some kind of letter of apology from Frank Miller for DKSA.
3) Absolute Kingdom Come: God, do I love this thing. My all time favorite scene is where Batman not only reveals that he was playing Luthor, but also that even in his seventies the man is still able to pull off the one-punch knockout.
It was after reading this, that I started wanting Mark Waid to write Batman comics.
4) Batman: Year One: Another given.
5) Alias Omnibus: This was a wonderful series that you really don't apprechiate until it bound together in one volume.
6) Absolute New Frontier: I think what really did it for me with this book was Cook's characterization of Martian Manhunter. You really just fall in love with the guy.
Honorable Mentions:
-Kevin Smith's Daredevil
-Batman: Long Holloween
-Batman: Dark Victory
-All of the Queen and Country TPBs
-All of the Powers TPBs
