Their bodies, their choices. Yea it usually makes for funnier shows but it's technically bad for you. And yes I drink, before anyone asks.

I used to grab a few beers on the way home from work and then sorta drink with them if you know what I mean :D
I tend to watch it in the morning now with a coffee so it doesn't bother me not seeing them drink so much.

i do drink when I'm watching every episode, and lately it's always more than kevin and alex combined

I admit like the episodes where they are drunk but they're only good because the rest of the time they're in control of their mouths ;)
Let them decide when, what and if they want to drink - it's their bodies and show.
"they dont get drunk enough" isn't fair or constructive feedback. What is it about when they're drunk you miss when they aren't?

k, that makes more sense. He had good view points of it. But also I know he is close to Zuckerberg so obviously he wouldn't put it down.

I find the show to be much more amusing when they're drunk, but I am not sure how healthy it is for them to get drunk every episode. :)

I agree, the episodes pre-Digg 3 were the best, but since they moved out of the 'tech' news stories only and started doing sober shows it's not as important to my life as it once was.

The all tech stories were by far the best. They would actually drink a few beers during the show and talk about the beers, which was awesome. People think that when we talk about them drinking we want to see them wrecked. Untrue. Althouh I think that would make a funny show, I just want to see them have a few beers, at least enough so they feel it, to loosen up. Drinking before the show is important because you can't expect to get there before the show is at least half over. They don't even go and get the weird beers to review them anymore... its always some shit like coors and they make sure to point out that the mountains are blue
This is another reason why I used to love diggnation:

bet that wouldn't fly anymore lol

Sure, the shows were funnier when they drank all the time, but that kind of shit wreaks havoc on the body after a while. It's a bit unfair and selfish to demand they risk liver damage so you can get a few laughs.

How dare Kevin and Alex not wreck their livers for my enjoyment.
it's not as important to my life as it once was.
If two guys talking drunk on a couch was important to your life at any point, then maybe that's a positive.

holy shit people... a few drinks every once in a while (like when they film the show every two or three weeks) is fine...ask a doctor. Getting totally hammered all the time is a different story, but like I said earlier, people have the misconception that when we say we want them to drink we want them to get totally hammered. I just want to see them have a few drinks, enough so it at least has some effect, so that they are "socially lubricated."
Although it is not perfectly healthy, not many things are. Eating at a fast food restaurant probably does more damage to you than a little alcohol every once in a while. Hell, kevin drinks tea like it's going out of style. Drinking too much tea can and usually does cause kidney stones. My point is that it is hard to find anything that you consume that does not contain anything that is at least somewhat bad for you.
We also never said they had to drink every episode, but when the amount of alcohol they currently consume is about a half a beer every ten episodes (an exaggeration of course), how can people say that we are asking them to kill themselves by asking for an increase? People need to stop overreacting about the "killing the liver" thing.
I like them to drink beer because not only does it noticeably loosen them up, but they can also do the beer reviews that we used to have. We haven't had those in quite a while. They also spill or spit sometimes which is always funny.

Both guys are also in their early 30's now, think both are 33. Look back 5 years ago in your own life. Chances are you have changed. Kevin has acquired a girlfriend who is incredibly health conscience and has probably influenced some of his eating and drinking habits. Alex recently tweeted about being on a cleansing fast where alcohol is definitely a no no.
There is a difference between late 20's and early to mid 30's when it comes to how your body recovers from partying. Metabolism begins to change and it requires more of an effort to keep your figure!
Of course, we all get a kick out of the smashed episodes. Both guys are really funny drunks. I'm just glad they are still pumping out episodes.

Research binge-drinking. With my family history regarding alcohol, I HAVE talked to a doctor about this. Hell, I've talked to the police about it. (not for my own drinking).

i honestly dont think that 4-5 drinks one day of the week or possibly every two weeks is that bad. However, I feel like they are drinking more tea in episodes than beer. Even when they do drink now a days, they drink idk maybe 1 or 2 beers if that. I guess all I'm saying is, I miss the old diggnation. At times like in the latest episode i feel like kevin is reading posts like this but they just dont drink. I would rather take one episode a month if it was as good as 40 oz. to freedom I've watched it over and over and it's still funny to me

I understand thinking the show was more fun when they drank a lot. I agree. But it's selfish to expect them to keep doing it. Even once a week or every two weeks causes damage that adds up over time. If they don't want to risk damage, or maybe just are tired of the hangover, then they shouldn't be expected to keep doing it.

To the OP: It comes down to, do they feel like a brew? If yes, they'll have a drink. If not, they won't. You can't expect them to drink on a weekly basis just so you can have a laugh at their expense. It's not healthy and it's not hip.

Please make an appointment and talk to your doctor about this Having a beer or two over the course of a few hours isn't the same thing as getting wasted in an hour. That drunk stupor is the result of alcohol coming in faster than the body can process it.

just a quick search on google brings me to this article:
http://kidshealth.org/teen/drug_alcohol/alcohol/binge_drink.html
a quote from the article:
"Today the generally accepted definition of binge drinking in the United States is the consumption of five or more drinks in a row by men - or four or more drinks in a row by women"
Int he article they are basically saying binge drinking is drinking heavily and quickly for the purpose of getting extremely drunk. This is not what happenes on diggnation nor is it what we are asking for.
again, having a few beers to loosen up is NOT binge drinking. As I said before, I'm not asking for them to get wasted (although the really drunk shows are awesome). However they seem to have more fun with the show when they are loosened up, making for a more entertaining show.

OK, any sensible person is well aware that Kevin and Alex (and crew) shouldn't be getting wasted every single weekend. To suggest that they have to for the sake of the show is fairly asinine.
However, the show is much more entertaining when they are drunk. That is the real hallmark of diggnation.
It does really suck that Kevin and Alex can't be beligeriant for every episode. If not for the fact that they are so much more open and entertaining... you'd never see an old drunk episode of diggnation run for less than an hour. The guys don't need to be hammered but they do need to be personable and willing to ramble. Sober Diggnations are short and inpersonable. If I wanted to kill a half hour of my time with mediocre media; I have TV.
Diggnation at it's beginnings was so fresh for the freedom they had. Certianly no caring person should encourage Adam, Kev, Hippie, Preger, to be shit faced. It is undeniable that the show was more entertaining when they could do this.
It is unfair to expect the stars to be drunk every show; it's also unfair to expect fans to still enjoy the show when such a change in format occurs.
I'm sorry, but, it's just not entertaining anymore.
I'm sure Kevin saw that and is why diggnation is closing down this year.
Best of luck to all involved and thank you so much for the many, many, maaaaaany, hours of entertainment. I was happy to hear Kevin is done with this, it's not the same show... nor should fans expect it to be the same show for 3+ years.

Adam? You get alex's name right and then you call him adam?
I'm with you on the drinking. The shows are better when they have fun, and they seem to have fun when they are at least a little drunk.

MQ, it doesn't matter if the explicit purpose of drinking a lot is to get drunk. It's still binge-drinking. Also the number of drinks is a guideline. They definitely weren't drinking in moderation. They were getting drunk, sometimes outright plastered, or else were doing a damned good job of acting.
If you want to walk away from the show because they won't regularly binge for your entertainment, then don't let the door hit you in your selfish ass on your way out.

I sound like a broken record now because I clearly said this at least 10 times already... they dont have to get plastered or binge-drink (your definition is more conservative than what seems to be the norm). Yes, it is entertaining when they are plastered, but the whole reason I want them to drink at least a little is to loosen up and have more fun with the episode. If they can achieve this without drinking, great, but so far they aren't able to pull it off.
The argument that I am being selfish for wanting them to drink is just plain ridiculous. If they don't want to drink, don't do a show where it is expected. That's like saying someone is selfish for wanting to see a MMA fighter fight because they can get seriously hurt. If the fighter doesn't want to fight, don't be a fighter.
I haven't seen them lately, but the old promos for diggnation always depicted that they drink during the episode. That is the idea that got drilled into us from the beginning...tech stories from digg and beer. Their recent decision to reduce the drinking down to a very small percent of the episodes just goes against what I and some others feel is true diggnation. I'll save the tech story argument for another time ;)
