I knew DC had a few straight-to-video flicks in the works (ala Marvel's Ultimate Avengers), but now that I know what the actual movies are, I'm TOTALLY stoked.
Justice League: The New Frontier

Superman: Doomsday

Teen Titans: The Judas Contract

Deathstroke as the main villain in Teen Titans? Superman and Doomsday duking it out? An animated New Frontier?

Kevin Smith has said he has done some of the voice work for the Superman: Doomsday DVD.
These are going to totally KICK ASS!

I Cannot wait for these. Bruce Timm is working on...I believe Superman: Doomsday. And I trust Timm. I won't lie, I hope it has that Timm style. I really do. I hope Kevin Conroy plays Batman in any incarnation they do for these films. I love the DC animated stuff on the 90's to now (Though The Batman...and Legion leave alot to be desired) so I cannot wait.

Yeah I know the feeling.
I feel good that Cooke is involved in the New Frontier project - there's no way I wouldn't buy that, on faith alone.
Speaking of 'toons, and I know it's not DC, but Netflix is shipping me the new Iron Man movie as we speak - cautiously optimistic it'll be good, though the one I'm real excited for is Dr. Strange, due later in the year. Animation is the perfect medium for a magic-based tale.

God, I hope these movies will be better than Marvel's.

Looks really good. I only wish they'd included some dialogue. I really want to hear Adam Baldwin and James Marsters.

Wow. The Superman one was the one I was least interested in. Now I'm psyched to see it!
Obviously the New Frontier is gonna be great, but I'm worried that there's too much in that story nad some great stuff is gonna end up getting cut.
Also, are all of these gonna be done in the normal DCU animated style? Of course that would work great for New Frontier, but I hope they do something different for the TT one. An animation style that better represents George Perez's art style would be ideal.

They are varying the animated styles. Supposedly. Of course they originally said that Superman/Doomsday would look closer to Dan Jurgens and it clearly doesn't.

The only big change appears to be Lois. Probably because the story's characterization of Lois is so different.

They'll probably air them all on cartoon network at some point which should be pretty sweet.

So the next DC thing is going to be Wonder Woman. Will it have legs or is this going to be the first real slip in quality?

Depends on how they play it.
If they portray her character similar to what it was in NF, I think they will have a winner. Yet there is the possibility they might go a bit too kiddie-friendly with the property, which would be dire for WW.

It's rare that a woman has been able to carry an action movie. Signorney Weaver, Angelina Jolie, Milla Jovovich maybe. Casting will be very important. Tough sell, but I hope they can pull it off.

The first official look at the new Wonder Women can be seen HERE (http://www.tvguide.com/images/features/080707wonderwoman_poster.jpg) and it was announced a while back that Keri Russel is cast as the voice of Wonder Woman and Firefly's Nathan Fillion will be playing Steve Trevor. http://community.tvguide.com/blog-entry/TVGuide-News-Blog/Todays-News/Exclusive-Look-Wonder/800042749

That's awesome.
The Wonder Woman story seems to have a lot in common with 300 in terms of graphic violence. I was talking to someone working on it and they were wondering how it would get a PG 13 instead of R. Not your normal comic version.
Actually, having done an ultraviolent animated film myself, it turns out people cut you a lot of slack when the violence is animated... but then, we didn't pay to have it rated.

Yes, it's true. There's a long(ish) featurette on the new movie on the Wonder Woman disk.

Nope, it's quite good.
I read about the new GL movie in CSN today, and I'm intrigued by it. It's definitely a departure from the traditional origin of the character, but it has potential to be pretty awesome.

How is it a departure? From what I've read of Hal, that sounds like his regular origin.

I thought the way that Sinestro was introduced was different, but I guess I'm thinking more along the lines of Johns' Secret Origin storyline.

You mean with Sinestro teaching Hal? I seem to remember that being in one of the origin stories somewhere...

This is the DC DVD I've been most looking forward to since New Frontier. The style is strange, like Bruce Timm + Anime. What do y'all think?

I really don't understand why the need an animated Green Lantern film. They covered his origin in Final Frontier and there's a live-action film coming out next year.
They could've done the "Judas Contract" project that was shelved.
Still, it does look interesting. And Sinestro's in his Sinestro Corp uniform? What's that abut?

That's precisely the reason why. It's the same reason they did a Batman DVD when The Dark Knight came out. They are packaging Green Lantern as the next big DC character to the general public.

Okay, but perhaps rather than choosing one character to shove down the public's throat until no one's buying their merchandise, why not hedge their bets and introduce several characters that maybe haven't been as ubiquitous in alternative forms of media?
Look at Marvel, they'll have about two superhero films a year coming out, over the course of the next few years, most of whom haven't had the exposure of a wide-release all of which is leading up to a team movie.

I don't understand your point. Green Lantern is a new character to the general public.
Are you saying the Warner Bros. should ape Marvel Studios' strategy? Who's to say they won't make a Justice League movie at some point?

Yeah, if they pull their cards right the big three to the general public will be GL, Batman, and Supes.

I'm simply saying I don't think they need to saturate the market with that character. If he's already got a big event coming up this summer and a live-action film next year why not let some other characters shine in their animated films?

Doesn't this also come out around Blackest Night? Makes tons of sense they would push this to new viewers and do the "by the way there's a big event happening.."
