I'm pumped, but I read a synopsis of the episode by someone who attended the party in Hawaii, so I may have let myself out of some of the "wonderment" that comes with a fresh episode.

Just hope their renewed focus on relationships doesn't get too soap-operaish

Haha! Yah. I read last year's synopsis from the Hawaii Premiere and I soo freakin' regreted and I promised myself I wouldn't do that again for Season 3. Nevertheless, I have failed in life and I read it this year. Shame me. :(

Well I think the most exciting part of this season is that the monster is back. I listen to the official Lost podcast and they said....you might have seen the monster last season, you just don't know it yet. But I'm excited for it to be a main part of the plot again.

I'm excited for the new LOST season. I'm also kind of happy that they're only doing 5 seasons. LOST is the kind of show that could potentially go on for years (with such a large ensemble cast and the back stories), but do we really want that? I know I don't. I'd rather the show end at a height, rather than drag on and become crap.

guys i am so excited for this. some ppl wanted to have a lost party, but i said no. this is a show u need to watch carefully. i will save my parties for charles in charge on tbs.

i think the monster is taking form of vincent. think about the very first time we saw vincent in the woods. something was going on there. it is the perfect way to learn about the castaways w/o them knowing.

things happen when that dog shows up.

if the monster can take forms it would explain so much...the polar bear, the black horse, hurrlie's imaginary friend.

it makes since to me...anyone else agree?

First off, careful examination is what DVRs are for. There is nothing like having something amazing happen onscreen and turning to your buddy and you both say "Holy Crap!" at the same time.

Second, good ideas about the dog. However, the Polar bear was explained in part by the diagram on the back of the blast door from "Lockdown". There's a hatch on the island whose function is/was genetic experimentation to see if they could make life-forms adaptable to extreme environments. Plus, they shot the bear... I would think the smoke monster would be impervious. But I did always wonder why they didn't skin and preserve that 400lbs of bear meat.

But yeah, the horse and Hurley's buddy... what's his name? could be smoke-induced.

Yeah, the opening scene was a complete mind****. Awesome.

Next episode looks killer!

I am in complete agreeance with you all about the episode and went to bed disappointed. Season Premiere are supposed to be what makes people decide to watch the rest of the season and if it was your first time watching lost then I would doubt you would come back for the rest of the season. I am just hoping we get some action in the next episode or I will walk.

As for the last 30s you didn't miss much I think that is when the girl that is dealing with Jack subdues him and turns him into to a crying little baby so she could get him some food. When she walks through the door to put the food in his room fake Henry(don't remember his name) tells her "good work" or something like that. I completely screwed that up I know but feel free to correct me if I am wrong.

It's like Gilligan's Island, only the Island wants to kill everyone, and everyone has these back stories that slowly trickle in where you realise that perhaps if they were killed it wouldn't be such a bad thing.

What I want to know is how on earth the girl with Jack in the underwater station made it to land so quickly to stop Sawyer from escaping? She and Henry seem to travel effortlessly between land and the station. My guess is its either a giant pneumatic tube or they aren't really underwater.

It could be creative editing, like on "Jericho" where you see them leaving the shelter to dig people out of the mine one minute, then they've broken through and rescued everyone in the next minute.

Or there are evil twins on the island.

Or there's an underground/underwater subway system we haven't seen yet :P

imagineer99
10-07-2006, 10:39 PM
I was a tad disappointed with the Season Premiere. It wasn't a bad episode, but it lacked the "wow" factor of the other premires.

Not only did we not find out what happened to almost all the characters, I'm just getting more and more frusturated with the others. Everytime they respond to one of Jack, Kate, or Sawyer's questions with a vague and somewhat "deep" answer, I feel like smacking one of them in the face. Seriously, Jack (who's in better shape them all of them combined) needs to literally rip Henry Gale (aka Ben, aka Benry, aka man with freaky eyes) in half. That Juliet woman was the most annoying and condescending of them all. "Oh, look! I know more than you do!" Really? You don't say!

And, Sawyer needs to stop getting knocked down so much....

I realize that all the "questions" won't get answered in a single episode. But, I just don't feel like we're going anywhere. I hope the writers/producers have enough sense to end the series before it becomes just annoying (I'm looking at you X-Files and Twin Peaks). I think a four year run is MORE than enough for this show.

You're making a big assumption here. Let me tell you a little story to try and explain:

About two blocks from here is the Dallas aquarium. They've got some pretty big fish tanks. Now, let's say, I'm in a set of rooms that has been installed inside one of those big fish tanks. I walk down the hall into the regular aquarium, and 2 minutes later I'm on the streets of Dallas. No magic.

I may be somewhat crazy, but didn't Juliette mention that the room Jack is being kept in was used for operating on Dolphins? Sounds like it could be part of an aquarium, or, at least, only a short distance from shore.

muss
10-12-2006, 05:05 AM
Well, I thought the second episode was a step up from the premiere, but they didn't really answer any questions. I saw the boat hijacking from the start they would be to smart to try and get it by land. That girl seems to be flirting with Jack(or it might just be my imagination because shes hot). The Red Socks reference was old and corny. I think I am going to stick around a bit longer though because next week, Locke is back and so is the smoke monster.

Isn't it ironic that Sayid said to keep two as prisioners so he could get the other to talk while the others are tazing Sawyer to control Kate?

I'm sure he's going to be in more flashback scenes. Is anyone convinced that the others have people who look just like people in the 815 flight crash's survivors? (Jack's wife, Eko's brother) There was some priceless dialogue in this one too. Why did the black cloud thing follow Eko? Good episode, but the next one better keep up with the hype, or else.

this episode almost confirms the theory that the smoke monster can shape shift. remember in last season how eko saw the smoke monster and you could see images from eko's past in the smoke? it was scanning him and can take form of those images.

that's why right before you saw ppl from his past the smoke monster was somewhere right before it.

if eko would repented the smoke monster wouldn't have killed him. that's why he said...you talk to me as if i am your brother. he ran off and the next time you see him the monster kills eko.

I'd say it fully confirmed that. But why did they have to kill Eko? WHYYYYYYYYYY!!!?!!!?!!? Now all the tailies are gone aside from the absent Bernard, and makes me feel a little bit as if they shouldn't have even been introduced in the first place, but we did learn quite a lot because of them. Introducing these two new characters to the good guy team seems like they tried to balance axing Eko. All I ask is that Hurley, Sayid and Locke stay alive.

if hurley was to die, id be very sad. he's definitely the comic relief in this show.

as for the smoke monster, it does seem to shape-shift. it also seems to appear different to different people: locke said that when he saw it, it was a bright light, and it was beautiful...

So with Eko gone, that makes all of the actors that have misbehaved in Hawaii (that got caught anyway) off the show. The two girls first with their DUI's and now Eko, also a DUI...

I feel as if the two new "good castaways" that went with Locke to the Pearl just came out of nowhere. Do we really need these characters? They feel totally unnecessary this far into the game.

For some reason I feel that they don't fit into the show visually, they both look out of a soap opera.

The smoke monster strikes again, poor Eko. I just wish they would reveal once and for all what the hell it is. I want to know with absolute certainty, I'm tired of speculating.

Back to this weeks episode...
Holy shit Jack is the ****ing man. Although I do wonder how far they could really get in an hour. Thats not very much time to escape "Alcatraz Island". It's too bad we gotta wait three months to find out. :(

jack doesn't know they are on a different island.

that is why ben has agreed when jack says:

This has been bothering me but who is Jacob? For those who missed it when Picket was walking to sawyer's cage to kill him he said something along the lines of "why is the doctor here he wasn't on Jacobs list" When I first heard it I thought he was talking about Ethan, but then I remembered that Ethan didn't make a list.

I was thinking is was the guy Ana-Lucia killed, but I remembered that he never met Jack and the others. Sounds like maybe there is another spy with the suvivors maybe? Could be that new guy that showed up this season. Or maybe Mr. Friendly/Zeke is Jacob.

Maybe the guy that Ana-Lucia killed? Goodwin was the name he gave the tail-section survivors but that must be his last name. His first name could have been Jacob.

I think it's more likely that Ethan Rom (which is an anagram of "other man") gave the lostaways a fake name and his real name is Jacob. Goodwin wouldn't have a list for the front section, he died before the tail section even found out about them.

I think the mistake lies in Ben telling "Ethan" to go find the front section. The writers either goofed, or Ben was getting Ethan into his "role" already.

OR Jacob is a totally different person, watching the beach on monitors. Perhaps it's the guy with the eyepatch.

I think its stupid that the smoke monster part of the story line got put on hold for so long. I'm not really sure I even care what happens anymore because everything moves ahead so slowly. The first season was amazing, but I haven't been very impressed since.

I thought the last ten-fifteen minutes were awesome, it reaffirmed Jack's badassness, and some kate action went down. But I will say that Kate's flashback was pointless.

That could be that "Ethan" is not his real name but "Ethan" never made a list, we found that out in the episode when Claire goes back the the place where they kept her. Since the lostaways knew Ethan was an other when he abducted Claire, there is no way he could come back and make a list because the lostaways killed Ethan before he had a chance to make a list.

if ethan did make a list he made it before he even took claire. i think he was in contact with them the whole time.

The problem is that the flashbacks are feeling more and more pointless. Yes, I understand that this is the show's format, but with each episode they just feel like filler.

Wow! Kate was married to the guy from "Serenity". Fascinating!

The writers/producers know this show can't go forever, so it feels like the flashbacks are there to artificially lengthen time.

Agreed, Kate's flashback didn't tell us anything new about her personality. We already learned that she has her heart in the right place when she asked the Marshall to make sure the farmer got the reward.
