Ok, So it's about nine at night in my part of the world and there is nothing on TV and I am almost out of cigarettes. I have also become bored with watching the neighbors trying to fit a king size bed into there front door (almost an hour so far) and my girlfriend has left me alone in the apartment (she has promised to bring back chinese food though. To put it another way, I am really bored at the moment so I thought I would recommend a book that I bought yesterday and have got an afull lot of enjoyment out of.

It's called "An anthology of graphic fiction, cartoons and true stories". basically it's snippets of the "higher brow" works of comics. It's got a few pages of Mouse, Acme novelty library etc. Now don't get me wrong I love the superheros, hell I'm wearing a batman belt right now but every now and then I love reading a story that shows me what else can be done with the medium (is it medium? I know the guys ranted about this a while back, I hope I'm right) something that just makes me sit up and go WOW. This book did it for me, even the jacket is cool (it's by Seth). It's 398 pages long and was only twenty odd euro. Seriously if you ever wanted to read something different read this, it's got work by tons of really cool artists (I just realized I sound like an ad). I only rant like this when I am exited about something. Hell even if you don't like it, it will make you look intelligent (well to other comic readers anyway).

I might pick it up when I make another Barnes and Nobel run.

And yes, comic books are a medium (it just so happens that this medium has been overtaken by a genre -in the US, at least).

Comics are indeed a medium. I think the rant you are refering to is my assertion that "superhero" is not a genre.
