Ok I've got a nice new PC built and running fairly well but now I'm having display issues. I currently have a single GTX 470 that I've got driving dual Samsung 23 inch monitors with no issues. However I'd like to use the HDMI port on the card play Videos and such on my HDTV located next to the desk. (Yes I do know that a single GTX 470 can only support 2 displays at a time. I have no desire to use more then that at any given time anyway. Simply doesn't work with the set up I have.)

Problem is I can't figure out a quick and easy way to switch between the three without messing up where the main desktop is. Just the action of pluging in the HDTV rearranges everything and disables the other displays, even if I set them to be extended. I want the HDTV to be used fairly little and only when I choose to.

I know I'm not explaining this well but does anyone have experience with doing something similar with a Nvidia Graphics card? Switching between using up to 2 of 3 Displays easily, quickly and hassle free? Windows 7 doesn't seem to be cutting it.

Unless you have a card that can support three monitors you will have to keep switching back and forth. Like moving the cables. But I think, not positive with win7, you can save monitors so it recognizes them every time you plug it in. So when you plug it in, it will know to keep it extended, or it will know to make them duplicates. I think you can do this within the Graphics Card program thats on your computer. Just go to monitors and do set them up. Hope this helped

You should be able to set the default monitor you want as #1. It has been so long since I messed with multiple monitors on windows. The most I have done is four.

OK so what everyone is saying is that the only way I can switch between the 3 is to manually plug in the HDTV? That kinda sucks.

Maybe you could buy a switcher. They use them for like doing live video streams at concerts. its quite expensive tho
