Seriously, he brought up a lot of good points that I've never thought about. The ps3 comes with the wifi, a hard drive, and a high-def dvd. All these things are pretty much essential for next-gen gaming and they are only add-ons for the 360. Add-ons that when put together cost alot more than a ps3. Plus the ps3 is more powerful than the 360 already, so it seems like there isn't much of a gap price-quality wise for the ps3 and 360. If anything the ps3 is a little more economical for what you get out of it.

So take that ps3 haters!!!!

Maybe because you're trying to decide which videogame console you should buy? or you're interested in video games and the subject of the post?
If not then i have no idea why you responded to this thread. Your comment is useless and just taking up space....

Graphics can just get better and better... and better, but it's the same gameplay. I'm still going to press X for the gas, etc.

Innovative gameplay is where it's at, and the Wii is gon' bring it baby.

[I'm not a Nintendo 'fanboi.' I consider myself a Sony fan that hated the Wii, but my ways have changed.]

Thats only if you are going to use wifi, and play HD movies in it, and use the hard drive for more then saving games.

I must say though, I'm very disappointed that the Wii will only be using flash memory you plug in. If you are having a virtual console with onlines games for download, not to mention an always on net connection that downloads new game features all the time....you need a hard drive in there. I'd pay the $10 it would cost them to put a small drive in there

we are reaching a cross roads in gaming right now. As time goes on graphics will become less and less important. we are nearing photo-realism.....after that, then what? It all comes down to game play. Game play is all that ever mattered. Why do so many people continue to love the old NES games.....its because they had to make good games back then, graphics alone couldn't sell that stuff

My guess is nintendo will release a HDD later on or some hacker will figure out a way to use any external USB HDD with the Wii.

Yea, well I am going to get all of the consoles, but the PS3 in like summer 07 if it would drop in price. Also, I will be getting the HHD add-on for the 360.

Also you can really just mod it for about $30.And you can make back ups of your games which I have a clean hard drive on my 360. And I don't watch my movies or pictures or music on my 360. I will be using the iTv for that.

Here's the thing, though... even if the add-ons end up costing roughly the same as the total price for the PS3, what Microsoft gives you is choices. For example, the add-on for the regular XBox that you have to get to play DVDs. Oh man, an extra $25? Sony just includes the price of the ability to play DVDs in the original price point. The end result is this: With the PlayStation, the unit could never be cheaper than an XBox, because Sony has to charge for the ability to play DVDs for EVERY unit. When buying an XBox, Microsoft gives you that option to not pay for a feature you will never use.

So ultimately, my point is this... while yes, the 360 won't be THAT much cheaper than the PS3 if you include all of the add-ons, the difference is that the PS3 charges you for things you don't necessarily need or want in every unit and with the 360, you get the option of not paying an extra X amount of dollars for the ability to do something.

What is it about the console war that brings out the best in people?

on the whole ps3 thing, sure, there isn't much of a price gap when you look at it from a logical capability standpoint, but the general public isn't going to see that "599 US Dollars" price tag and say, 'Golly Gee, I need to mortgage my house and buy THAT because it's cheaper to play my blu-ray discs and i would be paying nearly that much for an Xbox360 with addons anyway so I might as well buy it and play metal gear solid 4'.

We might, (and trust me, if i can sell enough body parts to buy one at launch, I'll bring the tent to whatever gamestop you're at and we'll set up shop) but I can't see the majority of people who bought a ps2 just to play Madden every year jumping for it.

Personally, I'm buyin a Wii with Red Steel and maybe fetching warioware (is that launch? idk)

But I'll probably get a ps3 eventually because nothing makes me happier than Metal Gear Solid (even if snake's dying of oldness and has a ridiculous moustache).

I could make a huge post about the PS3, X360 and the Wii, but I don't wanna waste my time.

Yeah, it's lucky for people like me that Nintendo has abstract graphics in their games, because I couldn't care less about detail, and that just happens to be what's going to make the PS3 triple the amount of the Wii.

who is gonna win the next gen? well, its all gonna come down to quality games. I bought my ps2 just to play GTA and well it wasnt amazing graphics.

I have worked in the game industry for 9 years and alot of my very close friends still work in the industry and worth on both 360 and ps3.. so I have some insite to both consoles..

the ps3 is over priced, doesnt have any good games coming , the games that I would buy the ps3 for are coming to 360 on the same day they launch on the ps3 (gta 4, guitar hero II)

x360 - online stuff, already proven, 2nd gen already for MS meaning they have hopefully learned a bit from the xbox first gen live.

ps3. no real word on how their system will be, big dissapointment at TGS and with 2 months to launch and not alot of info , sounds like to me they are scrambling to throw crap together and well we all know what happens when companies scrambling to get crap out, its crap.. granted it will get better but well nothing im gonna run out and spent $700+ on.

blu ray. whoop-de-doo .. who cares, most of you prob download your tv shows and movies now anyway.. you really excited about blu ray player for your tv that you will have to upgrade to just be able to see the added resolution? for that matter HD-DVD i feel the same about ..

i dont plan on rebuying all my dvd's that I dont watch..

anyhow. rant mode off.

Rant mode? I felt like I was back in my old video game class. I remember talking about how the XBOX hard drive was better than the PS2 hard drive since it was easier for people to develop XBOX games with hd support since XBOX came with a hard drive while the PS2 didn't, and you don't have as many options when you're not sure what the gamer is going to have. In fact I think this may have had something to do with Microsoft releasing the XBOX 360 Core.
