Shitty episode. Crowd sucked, Alex was more annoying than usual in acting everything that was said out and you both picked horrible stories that warranted little discussion beyond reading the title.

Wow, Alex was really irritating.
No offense because i always find Alex one of the most funny people ever, but on that episode he was CRAZY....Really hated it, sorry.

I agree this was a weak episode but I'm pretty sure by the time they shot the episode that night they were pretty wasted, I was watching the backstage live stream and everyone by that time looked pretty rough. Jay Adelson looked like he was about to fall over when he was on camera.

People always tell them to get wasted...so they got wasted...
I think it's funny to see them like that!

Worst live show ... where is the old glory of DIGGNATION live ?

I think the biggest problem is that Alex' loud voice is the most annoying thing ever.

I thought they were going to get smashed with like 4 shots and stuff like reno. Bud Light? >.>
but anyways, decent episode, the crowd was lame.

Have to be honest, after suffering through the train-wreck that was the live stream, this was a really disappointing episode.

during the live stream of the 5 year celebration, the 1250+ viewers were upset that Roger cut away from the show......he might have known what he was doing.....just sayin'.... the crowd was terrible, needed a celebrity guest, air cannon t-shirt gun ...somethin'

the pics for the downloaded diggnation has stills of Kevin being iced etc. which wasn't in the vid.. this episode should have had more in it.

Wow, I'm really disappointed in this show. I thought for the 5 year thing they would have gone all out. :~(

Alex needs to learn that he can be himself during a live show, not this annoying loud who just talks and doesn't say much of anything. I really disliked this show, I am never a big fan of the live shows though so maybe its just me.

This is my very first post. I've been watching Diggnation for about a year and have gone back to watch the old episodes and have come to enjoy them quite a bit. I especially like the live shows because they seem like so much fun. I wish I could be there in person. This show didn't seem very lively. It seemed like the hosts were not all there. I'm not sure exactly what it is. I guess if you do anything for five years you start to lose interest. Maybe that's it. Since Diggnation is coming to an end soon, we should probably expect to see more shows like this one. The guys are probably just tired and are ready for it to all end.

Alex on TRS seems like a cool dude, Alex on Diggnation live shows seems like an annoying dick.

Ok I am not going to trash something I don't do myself. This seemed somewhat phoned in, but the live show is about being there live. Not what we see in the edit.
There was talk of Alex being loud and whatever. The TRS Alex is more or less sober and live Diggnations' not. Also the mics. You notice him adjusting all the time. For that I give him a pass. They don't use them all the time. They seem to have problems with them all the time.
Now, for what I intended to post. 5 years ago, some people tried something. Rev3 and Diggnation were kinda hand in hand. It turned into what we seek out every week. They changed things. Made things change. Makes things possible for schleps like me.
I celebrate cause they made things better. Thank you, everyone involved in Revision 3.

I've been doing this for about two years, fellas, with a $100 head unit and a bluetooth phone with android.
Clarion FB275BTB [FM, SD card (not SDHC) and Bluetooth only]
So the most exciting feature of the $13k+ product you're reping is at least two years old and, even at the beginning of that time, cost $100; <0.8% of the products cost? I...think I'll pass.
Also, there should be a new drinking game. Every time Alex talks over Kevin you take a shot. No one survives.

What a waste, ive been here from the start of Rev3 and that was the worst live show ever, makes it even worse that its a 5 year anniversary and all they could manage was 40 mins and a handful of stories?
Also, Glenn nice ass :P

This may possibly be the worst show ever, not just the wost live show.
I don't know what happened to alex but he was way the fuck out there this episode. I don't know if he was really drunk or what, but it wasn't really like all the other times we've seen him drunk.
I can't stand the out of control audiences of the recent live diggnations, but I can't say that I liked this one very much. It was like they were just there for the party and diggnation was like the background music. They didn't have the crowd momentum to play off of. The best crowds are the smaller ones where they are into it but aren't totally ape shit.
The throwing of sponsor shit into the crowd is always the worst part of the live shows. It may be good for the crowd that is there, but it just seems like a waste of time to watch for the 99% of us who aren't there. Maybe just read the copy during the show and give the stuff to the crowd later. Maybe show it if its electronics or something but its really not worth the time for the cheap marketing swag like the shirts and the dice. Everyone will take the free stuff but most people are probably tossing it soon after.
and WTF was with the awkward as hell sponsor chant? I now feel like domain names are for senior citizens :p

Isn't it interested that, the more he drinks, the more Kevin becomes a shameless Apple fanboy? Or more, specifically, a more anti-fanboy for everything that's not Apple.
And that's saying something, because he has zero objectivity or credibility when he's stone-cold sober. So that fact that he actually has less when he's drunk is quite an accomplishment. Once he has a couple Laughing Monk Ales or Tequate Silvers (or whatever the hell he's drinking this week), he actually manages to show negative credibility.
Edit: Hey! I just found some security footage of Kevin trying to get his hands on an iPhone 4! Careful, it's probably NSFW: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FL7yD-0pqZg)

I found it funny that the only time when Alex wasn't screaming like he was impersonating a caveman was when he started talking about how his parents were like ninjas.

Have a live show on the east coast and you'll have an audience :D
The intro vid was the best part of the whole episode.
My friends and I had a blast even though it was as hot as a sauna in there. Stoked to see other hosts there like TRS, Scam School, Diggreal, FoodMob, Tekzilla, n HD Nation in person. We met fans from Ireland, Australia, and NYC. Shows were in the front, and the drinks and chatting were in the back. Good times! Thanks for the awesome show Kev n Alex, keep up the great work. The podcast was only 25% of what happened @ the party.

GOtta say I agree w/ many of "bad show" posts. Usually Alex's enthusiasm and energy can keep a show bouncing along and fun... but try as he did, it couldnt help this one. As many have also said, that the live shows now kinda suck to DL and watch, bet its fun being there tho. The early live shows like Reno the couple that were at a bar were fun to DL and watch, perhaps because they were small and comfortable (except Reno where they just let loose) and didnt need to spend so much time on sponsors.
Once again, IMO, Kevin didnt seem into it (until got the chance to throw out sponsor swag to the crowd) and along w/ feeling the need to promote/push sponsors, can weigh down a show.
Also IMO.. there has prolly been some pressure from Rev3 and Prager (as director or whatever) to make a "format" for the show. Their improvisation and free-flowing thoughts were the crux of the show... not the Digg stories (they only gave a subject to talk about, not like they couldnta talked about something on their minds that wasnt a Digg story).
The "formatting" of the show is one of the killers of the show. They could do a show of all emails, but for some reason, someone decided that the show must be done by the numbers. !. Into w/ joke sponsor/comment 2. Some adlib about the venue (its episode *** and we are here in SF) and 2 min of "kinda-real" chat between the buds.. 3. Begins the "Digg Stories" part that each person is assigned to read (wait a minute.. are we back in high school? Who decided that dudes hanging on a couch drinking and giving opinions needed classwork/homework assignments?). If 1 of the guys wanted to read the stories that would be cool by me.. would def stop all the "I cant find the story.. the net, or my browser crashed, my Macbook keeps rebooting, ..." 4. Sponsors 5. final story 6 maybe an email if lucky
I hope that once the show is over... and they dont need to deal w/ sponsors and "Show Formatting" Kevin and Alex turn on a webcam and a mic when they are hanging out (like the 2 or 3 "pre-Diggnation" offerings), and just have everybody having fun.
I think I might have those early Kev and Alex hanging out mp3s (when they were talking about maybe doing it weekly) on cd somewhere (I used to "archive everything I D/L'd which is why I have over 5,000 data cds and 2,000 data dvds).. Yes I'm a file whore, rarely met a file I didnt like. If I get the gumption to look.. I'll post up the mp3s
edit.. even the DL should have this appeal: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YlW9Vo8yHzM

Wow, lots of negative reviews here. Not going to lie, I enjoyed this episode a fair bit. Lots of laughing out loud to be had for me. I'll agree that Alex was a little obnoxious this time around, but for me it wasn't any more so than he was in other live shows. Kevin simply does better in front of crowds.
Good job guys, keep it up, and I look forward to the next few months.

Horrifically bad episode.
I was expecting with the Rev3 5 Year and the recent announcement that Diggnation as we know it is going away that they really would have blown the lid off the joint.
Hosts weren't into it, crowd responded in kind.
I liked the show better when I could relate the hosts and they weren't flying planes and driving BMWs.

It looks like I'm going to be agreeing with a lot of the posts here. Normally I listen to just the audio show, but for live ones try and get the video. Wasn't worth the effort for this one really.
Was hoping for something special with it being at Revision 3's birthday bash, but I think it is probably the worst live episode there has been in a long time.
If Diggnation is going to be going to live shows only (as has been rumoured), then hopefully they'll be better than this, otherwise it will essentially kill itself.

live shows should be scripted (10%) + unscripted (90%)
non live shows scripted (60%) + unscripted (40%)
