hello - Patrick and Brenden,
Hope this gets to Brenden, who had a mythbuntu segment with Patrick.
I loaded all the myth packages in the repositories, which gave me a BRICK for a system!
I just wanted to see what myth was all about....Apparently, now, myth has taken over my machine? I can't get into my ubuntu 10.04 distro...Just a black screen with tiny bar at top with a 24 hr clock!!?
What are the prompt cmds that will return my gnome desktop? I can get into a prompt cmd, that just runs me around in circles from login to ~$ prompt? What ever that means!!
Thanks for help/ suggestions.

If you have a command prompt, you do not have a brick, First try <ctrl><alt><f7> See http://ubuntuguide.org/wiki/Ubuntu:Lucid#Reconfigure_xserver-xorg

A mythtv forum with some old pros. I do not go t there, but they can put you in the right direction.

doing the following only may get you into a deeper mess:
If you know your sudo password, then you can manually un-install the packages via "sudo aptitude" if everything is not totally foobarred. I do not know how you installed the packages, but it sounds like you did it the hard way or you used incompatible packages. or you just installed the front end. Ubuntu and mythtv have changed dramatically since the version of mythbuntu was presented on systm. Might be as simple redoing the settings for the video driver. Need more details such as what did you use to install mythtv? .

Thanks = computoman,
Appreciate your reply. What I did is just install the myth packages that were in the repositories..
I do have a good ISO of 10.04, I may have to reinstall unbuntu.. I don't know where to find the cmd prompts to bring back my gnome desktop..
I'll check your advice - though, I did try crtl+alt+f7 - nothing happened..
Just keeps bouncing me back to ~$ prompt.
Thanks for your help.
