Why is it that every AppJudgement host refers to Android as "the Android"? It doesn't make any sense and it makes you sound really lame, to be quite honest.

The iPhone is a device. it is a thing you can hold in your hand. It therefore deserves an article. Android, on the other hand, is an operating system. It is not a device. You wouldn't say "I know a great piece of software for the Windows 7" or "Check out this feature in the Mac OS X". Would you? So then why do you say "Here's a great app for the Android"?

If you want to be consistent, you could stop saying "the iPhone" too and talk about apps for "iOs" which, just like Android, would not require an article. Or you could talk about "the Droid" or "the Nexus One", just not "the Android".

For a show that works so hard to look hip and now with grooving stock music and flashy backgrounds, I don't understand why you continue to write scripts with such bizarre and awkward wording.

To be honest, your false indignation sounds a little lame.

Google refer to it as 'The Android Platform', and in presentations often just as 'The Android' when not referring a specific Android device. If it's an explicit reference to the Android OS, they will call it Android ... just as you correctly pointed out is how we talk about Windows and OSX as an OS.

This bugs me too. I would like it if you could change it.

I think it's meant to be ironic. A reference, perhaps, to George W. Bush and his "the Google"?
