I've known about this trick for a while now. One thing that wasn't explained in the episode is, when you drop it sideways, whichever end hits the table first is the side that pops up. If you drop is PERFECTLY sideways, it will bounce straight back up. But, if you notice, if you don't drop it sideways enough all its energy will be absorbed and the cork will not bounce onto its end.

yeah, I figured the "perfect drop" happens rarely enough that I wouldn't go into it to save time. (besides, I'm pretty sure the "make sure to practice" part will cover that).
