Hi:
I have a really old version of Dreamweaver that I use to edit and post pages to my website (family orientated) I would like to get something different to edit my webpage and preferably free. I have seen reviews for PageBreeze, but I am leery about downloading it because of possible spyware and malware.

Could the group point my in the right direction for a free html editor.

Many thanks
The Deli Chef

Checkout Notepad+ if you're on Windows. I do my web development on OS X and use Coda. It's not free ($99), but it's worth every penny.

OpenOffice has a primitive yet functional WYSWIG HTML editor.

Ew. I don't recommend OpenOffice as an office suite let alone for use as an HTML editor. Gona have to disagree with you on this one.

Are you looking for WYSIWYG HTML editor or something that for just code?

A good free, open source code editor on OS X is Smultron. http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/development_tools/smultron.html

On Windows, I'm with phatlip and Notepad++ http://notepad-plus-plus.org/
