Hi there.

I want to buy Nook Reader. I have already seen all the reviews. I think it's cool gadget with good services from Barnes And Nooble shop.

What do you think about nook? Does anybody here have it?

B&N is allegedly up for sale,, so caveat emptor for long term support.

"Up for sale" does not mean "bankrupt" or even "going under". They are simply not performing as well as some of the more vocal stock holders want. There is also talk of the original founder, who's name escapes me at the moment, buying it back and taking it private (as opposed to a publicly traded stock), which would eliminate the vocal stockholder problem.

Don't confuse him.

The nook is an Android based reader - eaisly opened up to regular Android type functionality. The price point is pretty attractive, but to be honest, for similar money - just buy an Augen Gentouch Tablet (http://revision3.com/forums/showthread.php?t=36051), and install the B&N nook reader application on it.

The Augen isn't an iPad killer - it is too under spec'd to be even close - but it is a damn good Android based tablet and does what it does well.

Never said B&N was in trouble. My experience has taught me that usually when there is a change in ownership, customers usually but not always get the shaft. Borders is allegedly in the same situation.

Has anyone actually seen one of these alive in the wild?

Has anyone actually seen one of these alive in the wild?I played with one briefly. It behaves just as you'd expect an Android tablet to behave. No earth shattering functionality.

After using my iPad though, the screen on the Augen really is subpar, and response time on screen refresh was mediocre at best. But, ihf you want to run android apps in a larger tablet style format, it was ok.

But iPad killer? Not even close ... esp if you have 3G model with GPS.
