I currently have a friend who is looking for a job product testing. I know of several people who have done this before to help companies do their market research before distributing a product however, do you all know anything about any reputable companies? I know people who have been scammed before and I do not want this to happen to them. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks!

I know people who have been scammed before and I do not want this to happen to them. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks! When I lived in LA, we went to a cinema that regularly had people recruiting for movie test screenings, and I also used to get invitations to review/preview cars for different manufacturers (fun :) ... and a little extra cash).

I had friends be recruited as Secret Shoppers as well (college students, in Southern California).

But, as you point out there are a lot of scammers out there, and every market is different. Best bet is to go to the local BBB (Better Business Bureau) website and lookup "market research". Companies will be listed that are local, along with any complaints that have been received about them.

Thank you :) I think I search BBB for everything. It seems as if everywhere you turn these days people are offering "the best jobs"etc however not many amount to anything. On a different note would you ever work for a company that you could not find on BBB? Recently I was offered a part time job to work at while I am in school however I could not find it on BBB. The company is said to be a company that has been working for 35 plus years and in great business standing however I am not sure if I trust it yet or not; they have a large market and many employees but I am still unsure.

BBB is normally for service and sales companies, but if the company you are looking at does fall into those categories they don't get picked up.

A better bet is to look around and see if they have a D&B (Dun & Bradstreet) rating. They are sortof like a credit reporting agency for businesses, but include a lot of background info about the company too. Not as easy to find, and you need to know someone with an account to look them up. Unfortunately, I gave up my membership about 18 months ago. A search online might give you a clue about the company though by searching for "the company name" "duns".

Yeah, I just got another slew of emails wanting me to go to Wal*Mart
and pick up a check to go "secret shopping" but I had to cash the check
to give all but "two hundred dollars" to an "agent" working with me. Yeah,
scammers dude. Don't worry, I always forward those emails.

So sad that this kind of job is not available in our country :(

A legit job for product testing or mystery shopping is hard to find. I did mystery shopping once for a company ( I never did anything other than eating at the same resteraunt) but hey, it was a free meal and fifeteen dollars (gas money)! They had other offers for businesses, etc, but none that were close to where I live. There should be more of a market for product testing.
