You may know this is based on the story of Chris Gardner...who goes from being ok to very very poor to bottom out, but never gives up, keeps a positive attitude and who finally succeeds. It is a very stressful film if you have had humble beginnings. What I really liked is it is based on what appears to be a great American story indeed. The toughness of life at the bottom and a man’s passion to better ones self is told well. My kid liked it, wife liked it ,Thumbs up here too. For more on the real story of Chris Gardner see link below.

I didn't see the movie because I didn't like how it was spelled. OK OK, actually it was because I have a 2 year old and one on the way ... but the misspelling was still annoying.

Yeah, i just watched it recently. Movie teaches you to respect things more and be gratefull for whatever you have in life right now maybe it be good or bad. Great movie, fanatistic ending!

Yeah, the mispelling is the point of the movie....

From what I've heard, he put himself in the situation that he was in and could have been better off to begin with. When I see the movie I'll decide, I guess.

This is partly true, but the movie is worth seeing aside from this point.

Yeah, have to watch for Will Smith, but I'm talking in terms of the story seeing that it's true and all.

I'd see it just for Will, but I haven't gotten the chance.

He took a risk that didn't pan out. Yes, he could have been in a better position if he was happy with a life of mediocrity, but he took a chance, fell for a while, but pulled himself back up.

The movie didn't go into the spelling, but that is on a piece of wall art outside of a small school in San Francisco. When he asked the lady running the school about it, she told him (and I'm paraphrasing), "The children don't care how it's spelled. All they know is what it is and that's what matters."
