Hey guys fan of the show, i ve been watching from the first episode and cooked many of the meals. I have even posted some photos on flikr and i am a follower on twitter.
I am getting disappointed though with the professionalism that you guys have. Shows are being delayed (like this week), sound problems (even a whole episode), shaky cameras and the most important problem (for me) is that you are so busy chatting about random things that you forget to mention quantities at some points, cooking temperatures (really important) and other important cooking related stuff.
I know it is a rev3 show and I love the funny side of the show but since many of us are noobs at cooking; more details would be helpful.
any ideas? other views?

Yeah I completely agree. While the casual nature of the show and chatting makes it funny and interesting to watch, when it comes to trying to follow a recipe it's really annoying.
Also the recipes written up in the show notes are not particularly concise either. I wouldn't mind if some things like cooking temperatures wern't mentioned in the show, if they were provided in the recipe. But they often arent. As an example, I made the Chicken Parmigiana yesterday evening. The second instruction is as follows;
"2.Sweat off the garlic and onions in a small pot until soft in your olive oil."
This doesn't mention what heat to use, or how much oil to put in. While this may seem like common sense to many, to a complete beginner it is a problem.
A second thing that annoied me was in the 9th instruction where it doesn't specify what gas mark to use.
"9. PLace in to an oven at 200C or 400F for about 10 minutes"
Surely this is a standard thing to include?? It may be easy to look up online, but I shouldn't have to!
Lastly, as for the delay in shows, I am beginning to get very annoied with this too. There have been so many issues recently be it either technical (audio/video sync issues, encoding issues) or just having shows out late (Food Mob, Dan3.0, Film Riot). What makes it worse is that nobody is told about the problem until someone starts a 'WHERE IS THIS WEEKS SHOW??' thread and we eventually get a reply from Rev3.
Please get your act together Rev3.
Sorry for the rant...

I like the show a lot. I do agree in principle with some of these comments, but since I enjoy the show I do not expect everything to be perfect.
My one suggestion beyond those already expressed -- I think Niall should incorporate Lauren into the show more. For example, maybe he could teach her to make the dish each week. This would force better explanation/quantities of the ingredients, and also create a more dynamic interplay between the personalities. He can still do a lot of the "prep" to keep the episode length reasonable. Just a thought.

I agree 100%. There have been several Foodmob recipes that I haven't even attempted when I looked at how poorly the show notes are written up. Missing steps, missing ingredients, incorrect amounts...
Of the recipes I have made, I almost always have to rewatch portions of the episode several times so I could "guess" at the correct ingredients/proportions.
I love cooking along with you guys, but I do not enjoy trying to figure out how to make the recipe.
All that said, I love the show! I love the on screen chemistry, and I've loved a lot recipes I've made from the show. Please just fix the show notes!

I don't mind him skipping some things when talking on the show, but it would be nice if the side bar or the show notes were a little better written. The one thing, though, is I don't want them to change the casual nature of the show at all. The casual nature is one of the reasons I love this show, as opposed to shows on the Food Network or something.
Some of the complaints do seem a little nitpicky though. Maybe it's because I'm not a total beginner at cooking, but stuff like stove top temperatures or amount of oil seem like minor things to me. Play around with it, make the recipe your own. For stove top temperature, I usually put it at medium and adjust from there. As for the amount of oil, just take a guess. Add a little, if it doesn't seem to be enough, add a little more.
As for the "gas mark" thing, maybe it's because I live in Canada, but I've never seen a recipe reference "gas mark". Keep in mind that while the show is made in Ireland, it's being marketed towards the United States, and I don't think they use "gas mark" either. That, and he appears to be using an electric oven, and since he makes up most of his recipes, he probably doesn't know what the gas mark is.
The one complaint I do have is the delays. At least with Film Riot, when there is a delay, Ryan tells us on Twitter and Facebook, but there's never any explanation with Food Mob. I love the show, and I can forgive it being late every once in a while, but this is now the second time in a row where it's late where we're given no explanation at all.

Regards to the oil, I guess it is a little nit picky. But when you are completely new to cooking, its hard to know what 'enough' is. I dont want to make the recipe my own, I just want to be able to cook what is on the show.
I should probably clarify that I'm from the UK, and every recipe I've read here always shows a gas mark (for Gas Ovens) with the cooking temperature (for Electric Ovens). I've never seen a recipe that hasn't shown a gas mark. I assume then that gas ovens are not so common in America/Canada? If that's the case then I can understand why it's not shown.
I'm not saying they should change the show, I love the way it is presented. I just think at the very least they should be a little more precise with measurements, if not on the show, then definately in the recipe. As psycomike mentioned, I dont want to have to watch the show again to understand how to cook the meal. You should be able to cook it soley from the recipe.

You should be able to cook it soley from the recipe.Just like yoghurt, America has gas ovens as well ... but you don't cook food to a temperature of "Gas Mark 5" ... you cook it to 375F. American gas ovens figured that out a long time back. The whole "Gas Mark" is a UK/Commonwealth thing.
The Gas Mark conversion is not that hard to do. If you can watch the podcast, then you should be able to figure out.
Here is the link you need (http://tinyurl.com/36wq9dl) ... look at the first item.
As for oil ... The amount of oil used is not a finite amount either (unless you are making a salad dressing - 1:2 acid:oil). The amount of oil you cook with is depenedent upon a number of things ... size of pan, and type of pan. A nonstick skillet will not need as much (any) oil as a cast iron or stainless pan.
While science is involved, and baking is pretty much applied chemistry cooking is more art than science. If you watch cooking shows, they rarely measure the amount of oil going into a pan ... its more "a glug" or "two turns around the pan" or "enough to coat". Its nice to know that you might want 2T of olive oil, but if that ends up being 1.5T or 3T ... so be it ... you wont kill the dish.

I agree with a lot of things mentioned by the OP.
Definitely please have the show on time. I am willing to wait but i bet rev3 is definitely taking note of your continuous late submissions and will probably not tolerate that much longer if they are at all. The sound issue only occurred once so it's alright but the camera is definitely often too shaky. Makes me dizzy sometimes. I like the random small talk because that's what makes it different from all the other cooking shows, but they should remember that this is a cooking show in the end and their priority should be talking about the recipe at hand as detailed as possible. It would be better if the small talk are cooking related as well but what they have now is fine with me.
My major problem is still the show not being on time. I don't think it's rev3's fault but Niall and Aaron really need to get their act together. They need to take this a lot more seriously. Just because they have a lot of interaction and friendliness from the fans doesn't mean they can delay the show and casually go "Oops sorry, blame Aaron lol" Even friends can get irritated if you keep showing up late for soccer practice.

For the recipes, they are available. During the start of the recipe and the show notes. If you can't find a conversion tool/app for measurements, I am surprised you found your way to this show.
For the amount of oil, it is subjective as well. I love olive oil, so more is better in most cases. For recipes, If you plan on using "EVERYTHING" from the pan then worry. If you just take the ingredients from the oil and reuse for another part of the dish then go for it.
Now the Stoves and the "Gas Marks". Just to say. You have no idea if your "gas marks" are accurate unless you measure them on a regular basis. Like someone said. Baking is science. Cooking is experience. You need experience with the stove you are using, whether it be gas or 'lectric. For the recipes you are afraid of from "Food Mob", try and fail. Learn, then succeed. This deal is up to you.
Oh No. Now the "Unprofessional" conduct by this show. Don't step on hallowed ground. I WILL NOT complain about people that do something I know I can not do. Look within. The "Food Mob" crew do it so well. You think this is all they do? Then YOU ARE STUPID.
Food Mob offers basics to those that don't have them. Food mob offers advanced technique to those that need it. Don't complain till you can do better. Until then. I will defend them.
Lauren is cute too. Just sayin'.

It's the same when you say that a movie is crap. You can't make a movie but you can still critique it. The "unprofessionalism" of Food Mob is mainly the show being delayed with no explanation at all except "blame Aaron lol" They didn't tweet or post on Facebook when a show is going to be delayed until someone says "hey where's the show?" They explained it the first time with the sound issue but this is the third time and now it's just disrespectful to the viewers to leave out an explanation until someone asks for it.
From what I read on Facebook it seems it's because they didn't organise it well enough that when Aaron is ready to shoot, Niall went away. No one said the only thing they do is run this show and no one said "how hard can it be?". They obviously have other stuff to do but if they took on a weekly show on top of their usual work, they should be able to take on this responsibility to organise, plan ahead and do their best to ensure that the show goes up on time and give the viewers an explanation when it doesn't. If they can't handle doing a show every week then they should do what the Diggnation crew does, which is plan ahead, knowing everyone's schedule and do two shows in a row to ensure the show goes out on time in the coming weeks if they're all busy. Now this may not be true but I actually think they're the ones who thought running a weekly show where they just film themselves cooking would be easy, hence the lack of organisation and professionalism.

This is not disrespectful to the viewers at all. Slow to the take but they said there was a reason for the delay.
Now I agree, don't hold out. If the show is late cause someone had a lotta gas. So be it. I don't care if it is late. Just why or recognition of it is all good with me. The joke about Aaron being to blame is enough, just recognition. This is not the same as not being able to make a movie and judging it.
Does anyone think this "Food Mob" show is the only thing these kids do? Really? Look into simplyzesty.com. You know then that Lauren is not only the cute chick, but painfully smart. Good Girl.
Delays on timing are all subjective. This time the "Food Mob" crew were light on the updates. I would be happy with updates. But no blaming, unless it is funny. Just let us know the show is intended.

When you teach someone new to cooking how to cook you need to provide them the information they need so they can be comfortable making the dish and thus gain confidence. If they are confused or they fail you are making it worse for them not better.
I think they still have yet to find a balance between the fun banter and taking the job of teaching new cooks seriously. Lately it has seemed as though they are a show where a bunch of people hang out with a little cooking instead of a cooking show where everyone hangs out a little.

I am not sure if your post is targeted on me but we gonna have to agree to disagree on some of your points.
First of all I made this post to share my concerns and see if other viewers feel the same way I feel regarding the last few episodes. Comments like "you are stupid", "i am surprised you found your way to the show" etc are not really needed. Now I don't know you and you don't know me but is it really difficult for you to leave the "cockiness" out of this discussion?
I truly like this show but I also believe that it is the most unprofessional rev3 show. Since you have a lot of posts I am sure that lurking forums and watching shows is what you do. This is by far the worst, in terms of sound problems, shaky cams, delayed episodes etc. And I assure you Kevin rose for example has a million more things to do than the food mob guys.
Furthermore as you can see I am not the only one that has these issues. We are sharing our thoughts with constructive criticism in case anyone from the food mob crew reads them could help them into forming a better show.

I guess you didn't get the memo. Despite the fact that they have been struggling to get the last few hundred youtube fans for over a month now this is the most popular Rev3 show of all time and Niall is already an international celebrity chef so there is absolutely no room for improvement.
I have seen and been on the receiving end of these guys and their "how dare you suggest that the show can improve" comments before. My best guess is that they are young and think that because they like something as is they think everyone has to agree with them.
I like that it is not a cookie cutter cooking show. I like to see them have fun but what I have started to see lately is people not taking anything seriously and I might not be too far off since we have had multiple delays lately. I finally watched last week's show since I have gotten out of the habit of watching it on Thursday and they went too far in the other direction. I really hope they can find some balance.
