How much does it cost to gain the attention of 90 million Americans and one billion people around the globe?

$2.4 million for 30 Seconds!!!!

can you actually believe that?

and BTW all the Superbowl commercials will be recorded by youtube here... http://www.youtube.com/superbowl

No - they have local advertising, and don't really care about the superbowl. It will be watched, but they are not fanatical about it.

BTW - I DVR the Superbowl each year ... then fast forward through the "game" and just watch the ads. Not a football fan :)

For many of these companies, a majority of their target demographic is not just watching the Superbowl but is actually paying MORE attention (in many cases) to their ads than they are the game. Superbowl slots are money well-spent if the commercial is good.

Some companies can even make a huge name for themselves with one 30-second commercial during the Superbowl (Monster.com).

Guess what. When my parents held parties, though the ads we fun, they weren't the focus. :) We actually watched the game! Though the ads do rock.

Talking about that, how does godaddy fork out 2.4million when they just sell domains and hosting ect...

seems to be out of proportion

Yeah it's $1.99 a month and they're the biggest one out there. So they must have the most domain names registered through them, so they have more money then god I'd suppose
