My comments on the episode: don't follow Alex's dating advice. If a guy came up to me saying he knew "zombanese" I'd walk the other way without looking back. First off loved the show but what the hecks in the G4 email? Guess this is what keeps us watching. :rolleyes: Anyways heres a few thoughts on the show.

1) I would love to see Alex and Kevin play some Guitar Hero 2 on diggnation when it comes out for the 360. Would be fun to watch Alex get stomped by Kevin. :D

2) They need to start reading the full articles before they tape diggnation. I mean seriously how hard is it? Case in point the NES hack that fits in its own controller says in the article that "even more crazily, has a full-sized cartridge connector on the back" When they were talking about "Oh how do I get more games on it" Just please take 10minutes out of your day and read the article.

Anyways like I said loved the show cant wait till next week.

Actually, I don't know why people are comparing the iPhone to phone only devices. People don't compare the Trio to normal phones. I had to side with Alex on this one. If that is truly going to be produced it'll be awesome, because I don't care about having 1 all in one device versus 2 (I'd really only need phone and pmp) I want both to rock out hard at what they do. Plus, for the iPhone cingular's service sucks ass were I live. plus, I can't reasonable budget that much for a portable device. Yes, DEVICE not phone. the iPhone is an all in one device with phone capabilities. it is NOT a phone. I seriously wish people could make that distinction clearer. Seriously, if it wasn't called a phone kevin wouldn't even have brought it up in the argument. Since the article was about a phone, as in all it does is make calls and such.

As for Diggnation featured on AOTS I remember one clip (probably on youtube, or maybe it was even played on diggnation) Kevin (the one from AOTS, not the Kevin Rose) mentioning that they actually take news from the digg.com for their show.

Just to clearify, it got buried off the front page not removed. Meaning the users decided that it wasn't a good story. Plus, if you are not a diggnation fan you wouldn't know what it meant. And it's not like they would actually tell us, there is a reason Kevin didn't want to say it on Diggnation.

Doesn't anyone realize those "classic" plug and play controllers have been around for years and they're always crap? I mean, that was totally cool because it was a mod and all, but acting like the functionality of the device is something amazing is a little weak. There's a reason no one buys the $10 Midway Classic BS.

Also, Alex compared the iPhone to the PS3 because we haven't REALLY seen it working - totally valid point. Exactly why I didn't buy into all the PS3 hype and still don't buy any of it. BUT, he goes on to disagree with Kevin that the Nokia Aeon wasn't a random mock-up render made by them(regardless of any relation it has to the iPhone in terms of release date). I want to see the Aeon really working just like I want to see the iPhone working before I jump all over either of them.

Just had to get that little rant out there - like others have said, nearly every story this episode was old or, well, lame. Even with that though, it was a good episode and fun to watch. All this in a very small package and the video is great! It does more, go check it out yourselves! Jesus, please pick up this phone and do all the things you talk about, and stop talking about some lame in the future phone, you have no idea if it works! btw the future in phone controls is right here on the pearl! That's right it's the scroll ball itself that makes the name pearl! It's way beyond some lame-ass touch screen. If I could aford it I'd send them mine!!! sithlrd, I believe in the automotive industry does not mean in racing... So a hybrid "of equal price" won't compare to a racing car... umm, odd hybrids are "new" tech for the auto industry. Of course they are over priced, so yes. you are probably correct, a hybrid at the same price as a racing car probably won't be as good... but it's more than that. For the normal drive that 0-60 in x secs is more ePenis than anything else.

The raptor on the front of the bottle is a Red-Tail Hawk,
not a falcon or eagle. Thats why its called Red Tail Ale lol.

Hehe, and it wouldn't surprise me if that hawk actually is holding weed. I always figured it was fresh hops and barley. But this beer is made in Mendocino County... and like Humboldt county to the north, Mendocino is known for the growing of its herb. And in Mendocino, the tokers vastly outnumber the non-tokers. So maybee the resemblance was intentional ;~)

The walking Timber harvester made by Plustech of John Deere. I think it is freakin Awesome!! I've done forestry work (the humble way with chainsaw and elbow grease) and I enjoy doing it. But I would so totally love to do it while manning one of these Mechs! That would be a blast! Heck, I Want to own one of these Mechanized Worker Ants myself!

And from an enviromental aspect, this is the way forestry should be done. Skidders, and Loaders and tracked Timber Harvesters tear the shit out the forest floor. And beleive it or not that does affect the overall health of the forest. And they leave behind thick trails of diesel, grease, and oil; while they puff out acrid clouds of poisenous smoke. I've worked around heavy equipment in other industries for some years now; and I can tell you that the pollution they leave behind is significant!

But this Timber Harvestor is a very differant animal ...err insect. It runs on electricity and it walks rather than rolls. Plus it can travel over terrain that tracked vehicals can't. And it doesn't excavate deep troughs within the forest floor.. instead it makes a footprint which leaves the ground floor cover in tact. And it doesn't piss poison and expel toxic gas like the diesel beasts do! The Walking Timber Harvestor helps to preserve a bioshpere which is conducive to good forest health. There is no reason not to utilize it in forestry operations. Particularly in applications such as tree farming and harvesting timber in fragile ecosystems. I think Walking Worker Mechs will become reality in our near future.


Another possible nearfuture for this harvester ant; is for it to work semi-autonomously using an AI brain
remotely overseen by human controllers who could operate multitudes of these worker mechs from afar.

Imagine a large tree farm for the growing of our paper pulp, fence posts etc.. Imagine the Plustech Walker Harvesters looking like great mechanized ants as they work through the vast forest farm. The cutter ants fall, limb, and buck 'em; while the trucker ants haul 'em back to the hive for further processing. As the cutter and trucker mechs move on, they are followed by the cleanup mechs who pick up all the tree limbings to bring back to the hive to be chipped, then burned in an effecient burner to produce some of the electricity which powers the hive. Other sources of electricity could/would come from nearby hydro-electric, solar, and wind. A self sufficient hive of semi-autonomous, mechanized worker ants. That'd be so cool. Then imagine worker mechs on Mars building the infrastructure for Humans to personally explore the planet!!! And then working in lieu of humans, but under human direction to build the structures for permanent human residence on Mars. That would be outta this world! If I had my way these Worker Mechs would be the first Martians in the human settlement of our people first off world residence.

Back to Earth.... A forestry operation using electric powered Walking Havesters could be more economical and safer than conventional methods. But more importantly it is forestries most enviromentally friendly method of harvesting timber. And a tree farm is the best way for us to harvest the paper pulp we use in hard copy spam, newsprint, and shit paper. It'd be nice to be able ice to wipe my butt with environmentally clean paper ;~)

I'm totally convinced that we will begin to share the world with Robots, Cyborgs and Mechs in the very near future. And in the not to distant future, mans mechanical proxies will do our work in space and at war. I think it'd make for a great pod-segment for someone in the old TechTV network to do. Heck theres more than enough material for an entire episode. I'll "Blogger" more about all this later.
