Ive decided on getting a Zune for its FM Radio, Bigger Screene, and other reasons. My computer has Itunes and when I was trying to decide on getting an Ipod or a Zune I tried to put some movies in the Itunes folder to see how they were sorted, but there not the right format, and that was my biggest selling point for me to get the zune.
Anyway, I have some Mpegs that I downloaded off P2P (Wich I dont use anymore) and plenty of other movies that wernt formated for WMV, but I read a tip that told me how I could use Windows Movie Maker to convert them to WMV and they work fine now,
The biggest problem I have with the Zune is the inability to get movies from the market place yet, so would it be possible to buy a movie from Itunes and then Convert it to WMV in the Windows Movie Maker,
PS, Please just answer my question... in other words, Please do not tell me how much an Acrohos or whatever its called rocks, how Itunes Sucks, How I should just pirate evrything, or weather or not Ipod Is Better then Zune

Not without removing the DRM. I don't know if the iTunes store video DRM has been cracked or not.
It would be much easier just to use Azureus to download your favorite shows without DRM or buy the movies on DVD and trans-coding them.
Here in lies the real weakness. I own an XBOX 360 and trans-coding into WMV format does not seem to be that elementary a thing to do. Microsoft offers Windows Movie maker and also Windows Media 7 encoder. Neither of these is particularly good at the job. There are third-party aps. But, as they must license the WMV codec, they all cost money.
I like to watch REV 3 video podcast on the XBOX 360. They're nice enough to release the shows in VGA WMV, but not everyone does this.
It's a pain.
Microsoft should release a no-nonsense ap to use any installed codec to transcode in any WMV format.
Tell you're boss for me. ;)

Your best bet would be to either rip your own DVDs or get the video from other sources (like BT) and then convert it.

If you can't crack the DRM then **** no.

Heh, i'm curious about doing this too -- for similar reasons -- but i don't plan on being a pushy jack*** about "yes or no" and "just answer my question" things.
If i have some non-DRM avi, mov, divx, xvid, etc format videos, can i just use windows movie maker to convert them to a Zune compitable format? Also, if i deleted that a while ago, is there a way to get it back? It's not listed under the "add/remove windoze components" menu..
Cheers for any help on this.. its not a very important issue for me to be honest, as i don't have much interest in watching videos on my Zune -- even if the screen is bigger than an iPod. But i figure what the heck, it can't do any harm -- and watching the most recent episode of Diggnation next Wednesday when i'm flying back to the East coast does have some sort of appeal...

Okay, well i had some time to kill waiting at a cafe yesterday, and browsed around Cnet, eventually finding that AVS Video Converter seems to offer a great selection of what it can convert to and from.
Downloaded the free version of it, but when i went to convert Diggnation, it warned me that it would have the company watermark in the middle of the converted file, becuase it was the unregistered version. So i got around that by downloaded this instead (http://torrentspy.com/directory.asp?mode=torrentdetails&id=983462&torrent=AVS_Video_Tools_5_1Full_crack_zip), and it works great :D Takes a while to convert files, but my computer isn't doing anything else in the wee hours of the night for the most part, so i just start up a long file before going to bed.

Edit of the previous posts information:
Okay, so it converted the files all fine and dandy, but when i was watching Diggnation on the plane, feeling oh-so-cool... it suddenly tweaked out. Initially i thought it was my zune, so i turned it off and then back on, but no luck. So i pulled out my computer, opened the converted files with VLC media player, and found that both episodes i had converted (sometime after 15 minutes) had video errors. One froze on a frame, and the other went almost completely grey other than a outline of Alex's face that you can kind of make out. The audio was unharmed, so i got to listen to them nonetheless, but it was disappointing to not watch them, while still wasting battery life on a frozen frame video
Moral of the story: that program works well enough for short files (a couple of music videos worked perfectly), but didn't work well for longer ones, bear that in mind if you're planning on using it.

i think my siter uses that program now for hour long episodes of greys anatomy... i'd give it another shot, but this time disable any programs that may interrupt (ie: virus scanning, search indexers, opening/closing up IE/FFox windows), and hel, even try setting thread priority high via task manager...

I have compared different converters and I recommend MelodyCan.
It converts music and movies, and also can remove drm protection. The converter is easy to install and use.
