You guys drink terrible beers.

I haven't watched your show in probably three years, and even then I knew you guys weren't drinking great beers, but I saw potential, and I saw you guys were branching out a bit, but I check back in, and you're drinking Coors, Bud and Miller. Terrible. Support the local economy, support the people around you that create a great product.

In the city of San Francisco alone, you have 21st Amendment, Speakeasy, Magnolia, Social Kitchen, Anchor Steam, and Elizabeth Street Brewery.

Want to try something different, there are probably a hundred breweries in just the Bay Area, and in California? Hundreds.

Venture out, please. Don't support big business, they're terrible, and they create a terrible product.

I don't drink beer. But I would assume these big companies became big because people liked their beers so much and bought them.

I don't drink beer. But I would assume these big companies became big because people liked their beers so much and bought them.Nope. They got big by buying up the little guys and freezing them out of the market, and by being cheap and available.

They aren't great beers, but like McDs they are consistent, cheap, and available everywhere.

The popularity of microbreweries is a relatively new thing (10-20 years ... which is new in terms of where the big three came from), and even the big guys now do "craftsmen" style beers too.

Beer snob? Meh. Maybe ... but then again if you prefer a Coors over a Pabst or a Keystone, thats a personal preference as well.

the best part about micro/craft beer is that people think its expensive,... yet go and spend $2-$4 a beer at the bars. if you're going to spend that much money on beer, it might as well taste good.

I like drinking beers but I get really annoyed by beer snobs. Whenever I go to those pubs with like 100 beers on tap theres a few of them there that laugh when I don't know a belgian or german beer that they are drinking.

Clearly it doesn't occur to you that there is a possibility that they are being sponsored by that specific beer company to drink their beer for an episode.

If you are already planning on drinking beer would you rather get paid to drink a specific beer, even if you are being paid $5.00. Or would you rather go spend $8 or more on a local 6-pack?

I have to agree with theneild on this. They do drink mostly crappy beers on this show. If they are being sponsored by a BMC brand, I will personally work on them getting sponsored by a local craft brewery in either San Francisco or LA, since there are plenty to choose from.

Imports do not necessarily equal good beer (Belgium, German or otherwise). Most imports are not stored properly and oxidize during the shipping process ending up skunky.

How can a person who likes craft beer be a beer snob? Anyone who prefers a BMC beer has three brands to choose from. As a craft beer drinker, I've had beers from at least 100 different brands. I also brew my own if I can't find something I like.

If you can have filet mignon for about the same price as a plain McDonald's burger, that doesn't make you a snob, it makes you someone who has taste buds (my apologies to any vegetarians reading this, btw: yeast are animals too and there are some in your beer!).

(BMC = Budweiser, Miller, Coors)

Historically, BMC beers did serve a purpose: beer for women. Their flavors profiles were refined during WWII when the beer companies needed to sell more beer when most men were deployed. The flavors were not switched back once the men came back.

There are plenty of craft beers that are low in alcohol and have flavor. Most craft beers are between 5% and 8% alcohol.

As for the "health" aspect of a BMC light lager: People who drink light beers because they are low in calories end up drinking multiple beers before they feel a buzz, so by the end of the night, that person has had nearly the same amount of calories as the person sipping a couple of craft beers.

I am not referring to health at all. But if I am trying to play beer pong, its hard to beat a $60 keg of Keystone.

Good Micro-bears and imports are NOT cheap. You say 2-4 dollars a beer, but that is for bottles/cans. Buying beer from a liquor store is ALWAYS cheaper than a bar unless there is some crazy special going on. Micro-beers on tap in the bars that support them are always 5+ dollars, which is definitely more that Miller, Mich Golden Light, etc. BMC has some good beers, it's just the lights that are known for cheapness. (Miller High Life, one of the cheapest beers, is actually pretty good tasting in all situations).

Support the local economy, support the people around you that create a great product.

So let me get this straight.

Buying Coors, Bud, or Miller isn't supporting your local economy?

Tell that to the folks who own/run the store.

Don't even get me started on the local movement and how much of a fraudulent belief it is.

I actually registered just to make this post.

You sir are a fucking idiot. You cannot drink 18 imperial stouts, imperial stouts are all high gravity beers (defined as 6.3%+ ABV). HOWEVER most imperial stouts are 8%-21% ABV. The average being probably 10%-14%. Point is you have no idea what you are talking about.

Honestly even a seasoned drinker such as myself, 3-5 imperial stouts and you're on the floor. Or like 24 "BMC" beers and you're still sober. It's hard to get drunk when you have to piss every 2 cans/bottles.

BMC beers do serve a purpose they let everyone in the world know you are an idiot who "thinks" he loves "beer". It's just piss water in a can, does 4-5% alcohol sound like something a man should drink? Nope sounds like a fucking wine cooler.

When I pour my beer it's motor oil black and 9%+ abv. Like this excellent specimen I'm drinking now Dogfish Head World Wide Stout 2010 18% ABV. Please drink 18 of those and tell me you're just shitfaced. Go play in traffic retard, natural selection is clearly taking far too long.

Go ahead now and ban me for breaking whatever stupid rules I broke. Thanks.

Thanks for the insult; solid display of maturity. BMC beers are around 4-5% alcohol. Have you heard of games like beer pong (called beirut in some regions) or flip cup? You think people really want to play those with full, thick beers? No, people want something they can chug fast and catch a buzz. I would like to see someone who can drink 24 BMC beers.

Just as an FYI, as you enjoy insulting me, claiming that I don't actually like beer, my favorite beer is Surly Furious.

I cannot wait for an extremely mature reply from a 'seasoned' drinker... /s

This isn't about stimulating the economy, it's not about small business, it's not about thinking someone is better than someone else based on the beer they drink, it's about educating those who only drink what they find in the grocery store about what beer used to be and what beer is slowly becoming again.

Big breweries have become monopolies because they took advantage of a time when there was no variety in beer and people had almost no choice but to buy and consume beers that were watered down and had corn and rice added(still do). They sold cheap and people in there tough economic state, bought it. Now you see these monster companies advertising at all sporting events and dominating super bowl ads. They practically shove Bud light down your throat.

Go to your local beer store and find something different. The people on here that are mentioning high ABV stouts and what not are misleading others into thinking that's all there is in the craft/micro brew scene. There are plenty of well-crafted pilsners, wheat beers and pale ales that taste great, are refreshing and are the same ABV of a coors or MGD.

Wow I couldn't agree more! People are always going to drink what they want but it just pains me to see people going into stores talking about how good a BMC beer is, and nothing in the world can be better, ugh! Don't get me wrong, I drink BMC brews as well because there cheap, I can toss em back all day, and I can get to where I need to be with them. I'll always love my craft/micro beer though and I hope one day the beer drinking world will open up there eyes and discover what beer can taste like, smell like and look like. Cheers!
