Xbox 360, Wii, or PS3?

Tyson, who was on the most recent episode of Diggnation, said that he wanted to save up for a Playstation 3. So what about you guys? What do you plan on buying in the future?

Personally, I want a Wii. I've always been very fond of Nintendo since the SNES days, which in my opinion the best console ever. The 360 looks pretty good too though.

I've been debating between a Wii and a 360 recently. The Wii got a bit a of - with the high price point, and the 360 got a huge + with the announcement of Halo Wars. Because the only console I have right now is an XBOX, I'll probably go with the 360. It just has the games I want to play, and unfortunately the price point and some other things about the Wii didn't do enough to persuade me(as of right now, at least).

Ok, here's what my situation is:

When I first heard about the PS3, I was totally psyched! And then the price was announced......$600 for one console is too much for me to drop. But then on the other side of things, if you really break it down for what you are getting, it is an incredible deal. Think about it... Blu-ray player (normally $1000), built in Wi-fi, a 60GB hard drive, backwards compatibility, HDMI, wireless controllers, and even more.

That is actually incredible. But for me, and I think a lot of others out there, they still think of a Playstation as just a gaming console, and I can't see myself spending that much cash on a system. If you compare it feature to feature with the 360 for the $$ you'd spend, the PS3 would kicks its a**. But still....

I do know one thing for sure, I am getting a Wii, no matter what. :) I absolutely love the controller and innovation! One thing I am irked about though is the graphics really aren't any better than the GameCube, which is fairly dissapointing, but hey, if the games are a blast to play, what do graphics matter?

What I am really hoping that will happen for the Wii is that millions and millions are sold. Why do I want this? Well, my view on the situation is that Nintendo still has that "kiddy image" and I believe that if enough people buy the system, tons of 3rd parties will start making more games for it....good games. I am hoping that more mature or teen rated games start making it onto the Wii, that way I can play all types of games, not just the fun, kiddy ones.

Ok, that is my rant about the upcoming systems. Oh, one last thing, I am liking the way the 360 is turning out, so I may eventually get one if they drop the price next year or something. We'll see... :)

Considering how my money is flowing though, i'll probably be staring at a Wii before a PS3 though. --And i'll probably get an Xbox360 down the line so that I'm covered on all 3 fronts.

To my opinion, Alex and Kevin kept bashing the PS3 for no apparent reason other than “Blu-Ray is doomed” which is only a wild guess saying that HD-DVD will necessarly be the standard. I am buying a console for its games, and no games are forcing me to buy an X-BOX 360 for the moment...

I know I will buy a PS3 for Metal Gear Solid 4, but then again, I will wait for this game to come out. Same thing for Wii... I might buy it to enjoy Zelda a new way, but I might wait for something more interesting...

Can we only pick one? I would have to say Wii then then 360. I have totally lost my faith in Sony after the huge DRM debacle, the PS3 price point (granted it will be coming with wifi and blu-ray. I just want to be able to CHOOSE to have those things. With the PS3, that choice isn't there), and just the overall shittyness of the PSP (which I own, btw). Also, I want to go with the systems that will have the smallest chance of catching fire ;)

It'll be a Wii for me and then possibly a Xbox360 (they will probably do a 2nd gen one and then I'd get that).

And the PS3 isn't doomed - but it won't be the leader anymore. Who has £400/500 to spend on a console? You can get a PC for that and do a lot more with it than the PS3.

i will be getting a Wii first. Then a PS3 when Final Fantasy 13 comes out. Reasons being Like some people said their is nothing on the Crapbox360 that makes me wanna buy it. All the big sellers on the crapbox will be on the PC. So i will get those games on PC.

Call me crazy, but I'm gonna have to go with a Playstation 3. The graphics look amazing, as well as the line-up of games. Also, throughout the years, Sony has proven to have more variety in their games which will probably appeal to many. But it'll probably be awhiiiiile before I ever get my hands on one. From what I heard, you have to know "someone on the inside" just to get one remotely close to the launch date.

I find nintendo games to be the best ive ever played. Zelda is the best game ever, and its getting better! 360 games look pretty dull, its best game is halo, and i played one level on both halo 1 and 2 before i decided it was the most boring game ever. Dont get me started on sony games. Games need character, and thats exactly what nintendo does. Also im cheap, and im not going to spend AU700 -1000 bucks for a 360 or ps3. Finally, the sword fighting thing with the wiimote, is going to be wicked. Oh and i forgot inovation blah blah blah blah yawn.

Wow. Do I disagree with you. First of all despite the fact that I never purchased an xbox, halo is really fun game. Maybe its not as fun playing alone, but when I used to play it at lan parties it was ****ing awesome. Second off, nintendo doesn't have particularly good characters. Sure Zelda and mario make for fun games that I will continue to play and they have a nostalgic value to them. That doesn't mean they are deep or interesting characters. What do you know about mario? He is an italian plumber with overalls and a red hat who jumps on mushrooms in order to save a princess. What about link? He is an elven (i think?) warrior with a sword and a boomerang trying to save a princess. That is not the deepest or most interesting story line. Sure its fun for games, but I can name plenty of playstation games that have much better more interesting characters. And don't get me started on innovation. Plenty of playstation games have innovated in the last 2 generations. Have you played guitar hero, ddr, shadow of the collossus? Just because it has a numchuck remote doesn't mean its more fun or innovative.

I've decided that I want all of the consoles. But I can't afford them all :( so I'll probably play it safe and buy a 360 and then wait to see what ps3 and wii have to offer in a couple years. OR just wait a year or so to see what they all have to offer. It will be a painful year...

no ps3 you be out of luck, not like i work for any or anything but it is the best deal of the year. i like my 360 but having bluray in hdmi for 600 is better than any deal. why the ps2 make it big in usa, dvd. 36 doing ok is because of the games in hd. wait till the ps3 rocks your world. got a psp and have wifi content streamed to that is the shi&t. i don't know about you but having a great hd playing console and free online is a deal. i think it is great to play games in xbox live but for 50 a year and thats it. i like the sony approach. and yes i do work for sony.

I was a long time sony customer till thier products turned to overpriced shit and now Sony is insane and the most arrogant company and biggest liars on earth,thier products are now overpriced breaking down shit...every proprietary format they make fails..I bet blu-ray will be no different,I don't have a PS2 I do want one but won't get one because I am fed up with sony's BS and won't get PS3 either.
I simply won't give sony any more of my money...I rather spend it on better and cheaper brands like Samsung..sick of sony's crap breaking down.

Im Pretty sure you could make any game sound lame if you tried. If you knew anything about zelda, you would know it has a deep storey line and its characters are very interesting just look at its ratings. Zelda (even without the wii controler) engages the player. You actually have to use your brain and solve puzzels leaving the player a satisfied feeling when they are solved it, Halo is just mindless killing. And as for intuitive games on the sony, none of them are any good. the eyetoy was horrible. and if you want to dance like a poofter, just turn on some music, or perhaps you could learn how to play a real guitar, im sure that would be far more useful. And another thing, the point of a game is not to have a good character, its to have fun, so i dont know where your going there. I am looking forward to some really awsome tittles for the wii, that are fun AND have "interesting storey lines". Sadness, Disaster: Day of Crisis, Darkness, Project H.A.M.M.E.R, Red Steel, Super Mario Galaxy, Zelda twilight princess and many others.

I'll eventually have all of them, I've had a 360 since December of last year (I was one of the lucky ones of the '05s, no problems at all here thank god, and I bought it off eBay too!) I'm hoping I'll just be able to walk into a store and get a Wii on Sunday. I will get a PS3 eventually, but not until they iron out a lot of the bugs that I've heard about and it drops a few hundred in price.
