are you kidding me???? we're under a blizzard warning... I'm 25 and we've never been under a blizzard warning in my entire life! Last blizzard we had in Indiana was 1978 and it was 20 inches, and they are comparing this one to it! and where I live is directly in the path of the storm, they actually used the term "dumping snow on the area" Basically everything in the state is closed and they are advising not to leave the house. Yeah, i'm working from home today (maybe the next couple days!)...

Yeah, i'm working from home today (maybe the next couple days!)...I was flying out of Fort Wayne to Toronto last night. I had two flights cancelled on me, and eventually got to Detroit where I was able to get a connection to Toronto late last night. It is now touch and go about flights leaving Toronto late today ... I am on a 4:00pm flight, but that gives me 2 hours to get from the close of my meeting to being on the airplane (cutting it too fine). If I miss that flight there is a good chance I will be rebooked on a 9:30 flight out tonight that will mostly likely be cancelled.

We have a shit load of mixy snow and raid and they decided not to cancel schools in my area, I am very pissed that I've decided not to do any work in my programming class...as I do anyway.

Heh, we get 2-3 inches of snow around here and mass chaos erupts. Even if the roads aren't necessarily ICY, people still end up in ditches. I'm fairly certain that if over a foot fell in a small period of time, most of greater Charlotte would spontaneously combust.

Ha! Greater Charlotte, head a bit more south my friend. 1 inch here in Columbia and things shutdown!

I must admit though, I love the snow. Love to play in it. Ride atv's. Ride a car hood behind a 4x4 truck at 50mph.....such fun. Send me the snow!

And to make the blizzard people jealous...it's like 65 here right now.

Up here in Chicago it took me 2 hours to get to work, schools are closed and 400 flights have been canceled at O'Hare, thus far.

After work I'm going to build a snowman.

Last blizzard I lived through was the first. Medicine Hat, Alberta is not known for it's percipitation but in one overnight period about 3 years ago we got 20-27 inches depending on which part of town you were in. That was the first time outside of the School Board locking out the soon to strike teachers that I missed school. I worked at a grocery store and still had to go in because I live withing walking distance and by 4:30 pm the wind and snow had subsided. Man... that was ****ing nuts.

Now I live in Regina, Saskatchewan and there is lots of snow. Just not all at once :)

drifts are currently in my driveway at 9 inches and above, and it's supposed to keep snowing for the next 8 hours, oh yeah and there is like no visibility at all...

one year, like 3-4 years ago, we got like a foot or more for like 3 weekends in a row, it would be melted by the next weekend, it was more annoying than anything, this one is a little scary. Glad we still have power though...

I live in Utah and we get snow a lot and I hate it..has been times we have had 2-3 FEET in the valley in a single day ..yes I do mean walking in snow going above your knees and fell in one day....at times thanks to Utah's insane weather patterns I have had it snow in JUNE and then the next day be a typical blazing hot Utah summer day...in Utah we have a saying "don't like the weather ..wait 5 minutes." and it's true can be raining then two hours later be snowing..hour or so later bright sunshine with no clouds....I see it often in this state.

It’s coming down pretty hard here in STL. I am anxiously awaiting for the email letting everyone go home from work. While there isn’t THAT much on the ground right now, they said it’s not going to let up until tonight, so I’m sure the accumulation will be a bit. Not the biggest deal, but I think I’m more paranoid about blizzards/various winter storms b/c I’ve lost power and heat for a few days each of the last two “ice storms” we had here.

They let school out early here, I doubt we will have school tomorrow either seeing how it's supposed to snow again and it should be below freezing.

blizzard is more conditions than snowfall amount.

I think they consider it a blizzard based on wind speed and rate of snow fall. We're under a heavy snow warning where I live in Massachusetts.

A blizzard is a severe winter storm condition characterized by low temperatures, strong winds, and heavy blowing snow.

In TN we hadn't had a good deep snow (where I live) since 93 had like 20-23 inches then, usually only have about a 1in to 3in. I love cold weather.

Blizzard is the most overused term in meteorology or so says my meteorologist friend. We have maybe 4-5" here with some freezing rain and sleet type stuff. Hardly anything to get bent out of shape about.

I live in Maryland and we got about 2 inches of snow today (they are calling for different "winter weather" conditions all night). The last actual blizzard I remember getting here in Maryland was in 96 however a few years back we got a shit load of snow (about 3.5 feet) which probably happens once every 10 years around here.

Today was the second time I ever drove in the snow. It amazes me how some people think snow= drive like a madman. :(

as of around 4:30-5 we had 15 inches in the driveway, and it's still snowing... we are currently under a snow emergency.

When I was in school we would have 3-6 inches of snow and they wouldn't cancel usually pissed parents off. Alot of times when they did call off school because of threat of a possible snow storm we'd get nothing but a dusting. We have idiots on our schoolboard.

Well, if you want to talk about idiots on the school board...follow along.

So today I woke and school wasn't canceled nor delayed. Just because it was TWO ****ING DEGREES ABOVE FREEZING. Needless to say it got two degrees colder and had to get us out of school before the roads iced up.

If we have school tomorrow...it will be the same case, looking at my Doppler widget there is a big ass cloud of snow passing over us and it's a good ten degrees below freezing.

But the county website is displaying the same message as it did last night, "EMERGENCY MESSAGE: 2/13/2007 at 8:50 PM -- Refresh/Reload page to update message
Any announcement concerning weather-related delays or closings will be posted at 5 a.m. Wednesday, February 14, 2007."

So it's a good chance they'll pull the same shit.

Na, this isn't true. It's been below freezing here for the past several weeks. They keep the temp in mind when closing though, if its snowing and it's not sticking to the roads because its isn't cold enough then they are usually going to keep the schools open. Now...if its snowing its ass of and is below freezing then thats a pretty good indicator that the roads are bad and that the schools should be closed.

No, I was saying it was snowing a good amount before school started but it was a few degrees above freezing. But the temperature dropped while it was still snowing and the roads started to become icy again.

In pretty much every county today in my area. (including mine :D)
