Seems there has been some harsh stuff said on the forums lately.
One of the best posts I’ve read on any forum is located here:

3. Be kind to other members by showing respect to their opinions and feelings.
There are things that bug me on the boards, my thought is...if I cant reply with something constructive then I usually don’t reply or at least think about what I should say.
Granted, I’m in no way telling anyone how to post and not trying to "stiffen up the boards" :P Its just courtesy, that’s all. Some things don’t need a reply. In fact, sometimes saying nothing... says more.
I’m not the forum police and I’m not trying to be a dick or anything.
Just think about how you would take it if you said:
"Man I like/don’t like......."
and some one replies:
"Hey, **** you....your moms a coke whore.....leave if you don’t like/don’t like it."
Most of the time you would want a reply, whether it be a agree or disagree, that has as much thought in it as your original post did.....
I’m sure Rev3 doesn’t want us slamming each other. This creates a bad environment to come to. We are supposed to be a community.
Let’s try to be more thoughtful in our posts.....Makes things better.

Can you be more specific as to which post brought about this reminder of rule 3?

Um... ok... I thought that the community as a whole has been prety awesome since I really picked up reading and posting (outside of the quest4748 incident). So, I'm still a bit baffled by your post.

You are absolutely right. As a whole this community is awesome and there are some really great people.
Ive watched forums go down and I have left forums because of how people act. Many people follow suit. It doesnt take much to ruin a great thing. Its not to say that any one person acts like that, but its important to keep a focus on what we are here for. Sometimes its easy to lose sight.
Like I said. Not anything major, lets just keep each other in check.

Well... Cheers to you then. I'd say that we don't have much to worry about though. The Mods here do a fantastic job of keeping things in line.

I agree. There's a time for jestings and such, but respect does often slide.
Just to add some context, he's likely referring to the 1,234,561st post topic started by someone on how they don't like Kevin and Alex dropping the F-bomb on diggnation. While I myself enjoy civility, I'm to the point where I'm about ready to go crazy if I see the topic again. Therefore I have a suggestion:
In the Diggnation forum, lets create a STICKY thread called "Do you give a **** about the F-bomb on Diggnation." This could be a poll with simple yes or no responses, and in the thread people can whine, complain, pee their pants, whatever they want to do - as long as they don't start another ****ing topic on the subject.
It would be nice if people did a search before they let their fingers loose, but realistically it just doesn't happen...maybe a sticky cussing thread in the Diggnation would bring some sanity and civility to the topic and let whomever beat the snot out of the already pulverized horse some more.
Just my $.02

The only time we get really pissy about something is when someone writes another ****ing, "o noes stup droopin f bums" thread.
But a moderator closed it before it got too out of hand.

Yeah, let's make a sticky. Then it can get as out of hand as it wants, as long as it's there.

But then there are the people that don't read the stickies...

as for my own two cents worth. nothing anyone says to me bothers me. this is a forum i don't know any body here. so it's not really real to me. if someone is rude with me i don't take it personally. i sure in "real life" that person would never say such things. mostly because i can beat up most webnerds:D it's just blowing off steam. no harm.
sticks and stones.

And we have now completely taken a shit on this thread with our inability to not leave the revision3 forums.
I tell you what...The only person I need to give some respect to is me and the only way in doing that is leaving these forums for like 5 minutes. We obviously see that never happens.
