So I just saw the new show (ep. 12) and of course I loved it (as usual), and it's like you guys are reading my mind! I just started looking into the SlingBox tv thing. I out here at college and I don't get half the channels I did back home with my direct tv! Great to see that you guys talked about it.
On that note, does anyone else (or the hosts) have any other comments on how the quality is, audio, etc.? Is there a way to hook it up to my TV I have down here? Any complaints you can notice? Differences between the older one and the newer one?
Thanks for any info any one else has out there! Did you end up getting one Wil?

The quality across the internet depends largely on your upload speed. I have 768k up and it looks good. With the older version, I used a 368k connection and it looked a little better than YouTube quality, but I still watched HBO from work without complaint. Slingbox automatically adjusts to bandwidth.
On a LAN, it's amazing...I have it hooked up to my HD signal. There's currently no way to hook it up to your TV unless you have a computer connected to the TV. In April time frame, there's a Slingcatcher box that connects to your TV and you can wirelessly 'sling' content from your computer to the TV...including Slingbox. Wow...how many times can I write TV in one paragraph?
Old versus New? The original version had a TV tuner and one input (s-video or composite) for a cable box or DVD player or whatever). A firmware upgrade separated the s-video and composite into separate sources so you can watch video only on one and get video and audio from the other plus the TV tuner.
Now there's three different versions. One has just the TV tuner (Slingbox Tuner), the other has s-video/composite for cable boxes (Slingbox A/V). Technically you could plug an RF signal from a cable box to the Tuner. The older one is basically a combination of the tuner and a/v and in some ways more flexible. Not sure if it did 16:9 though. The PRO is the high-end that supports a HD signal (with optional cable) plus there's s-video, composite, and the tuner built-in...so basically more connections. If you're in college, I'd say the PRO is the way to go cause you tend to move a lot and your setup changes so frequently.
Wow...long reply...maybe TMI...I was at a diggnation shoot and that means beer and replying after is perhaps not a good idea.

I've been waiting for a great hardware appliance to do this. I had asked if the Apple TV did this a while ago, but it didn't look like it was going to.
Glad to see they are coming out with this idea soon. I think I'll wait on it until it supports that PC to TV feature.
Also, great episode guys!

The shoot was packed with fans. Discovery channel had a camera there too. They told me what it was for, but it seems to have escaped my mind right now. Met a couple fans of InDigital too...that was really cool.

Discovery channel was there because they're going to produce a show about the emergence of technology in the last 20 years or something like that.
